Any poker players here?

I'm an online player. I consider myself a decent player, as I pretty much break even. Ill be up 40 bucks one day and down 40 bucks the next. I can't seem to break that line of being a constant winner. Anybody here that constantly wins?

I don't play online, the number of real vs fake players and algorithms has an effect on the outcome vs real life playing and deck shuffling. Also when you play without stakes vs playing using your own $$ online the algorithm is different and the house has the clear advantage in the long run.

When I play I don't always know my opponent and if I do I'm not sure their mindset. I consider myself above average given my years of play and knowledge but I don't let my opponents know this until I have to. But many times when I play with friends they already know so it's already on the table but sometimes people don't like to lose.

I don't know what you mean by this. Playing online is playing with stakes as it still real money.

I'm talking about playing rounds with other players with fake money and no rake. It's to gain experience or waste time but mainly it's to drag you into the real $$ games. Some sites offer this and because they don't allow betting based on location they are legal but once you decide to wage it's no longer that and you move to a server and company that isn't.

Your probably playing provincially vs international due to the laws here in Canada which allow for much of this but it's different elsewhere.

i used to pay those 10,000 player freerolls on pokerstars a lot a couple of years ago. won quite a few of them but takes about 6+ hours to do it. Yes they have algorithms where if you have more money in your stack than the other guys in the hand, you seem to win a lot of the races.

I only play online on pokerstars. It's international with the exclusion of the U.S Not sure what your talking about. I mentioned in my first post I play for money. As I said, I'll be up 40 bucks one day and down 50 the next, so I'm not sure why your talking about free poker.

I prefer live poker rarely play online. Usually home cash games and live Texas hold 'em tournaments. Made a few final tables best finish was 4th in a large field tournament of over 120 players. Highlight was a few thousand euro win at an EPT event. Lowlight was a 1st hand bust out even before I got my jacket off. I had AA to his KK. Flop and turn were unremarkable then he spiked K on the river. Sick beat.......oh well that's poker. Overall I'd consider myself a very good player and could probably making a living as a pro but I don't have passion for the game. However, on my bucket list in the year I turn 50 is to enter the WSOP Main Event.

Yeah that's a bad beat, considering you were still winning post flop and turn.

If I had the choice, I don't think I would want to be a pro grinder. Poker can get very boring. I just want to get to the point where if I play 5 hours a week, I can make 100 bucks. I'm right there on the cusp as I only play 6 max sit n go's. I make it to the final 3 every time, but only top two pay in 6 max. So of all the times I make it to final 3, I finishing in the money about 33% of the time. Because second on pays pretty much double your buy in, every time you don't finish in the money your back to even, so you have to win a few of your heads up finals to be profitable.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I need to work on my 3 handed and heads up play.

I've been playing online for about 3 years now on 888 Poker. I don't play a lot of money games but mostly free tournaments. I do play a few money tournaments mostly free rolls.

One of them was just this past weekend. It was a promotion called The $1,000,000 superstorm and ran the whole month of March. I won a few free tickets on the daily free spins to get into satellite tournaments that you could use to try to qualify for the "Main Event". I did finish high enough in one of them and won a $100 entry to one the pre qualifying tournaments for the big one. I think there were 3 qualifiers each day from March 1 to March 23 and entry was $100 or $0 if you had a free ticket. Each tournament had anywhere from 100 to 2000 players and depending on the number of players anywhere from 10 to 120 would qualify for the main event. Well I entered one with the free $100 ticket and finished high enough to get into the main event.
It ran March 23 at 3:30. 11,618 players attempted to get in and 2202 made it.
They paid the first 1250 spots.
Total purse was $1,000,000.
1st place was $112,000 and the last 450 spots paid $213.00
I finished 180 and won $855.00 in $US funds.
So I guess I have covid -19 and social distancing to thank as I wouldn't have been playing if I wasn't stuck at home.
I immediately withdrew the winnings so I wouldn't be tempted to keep playing. I will keep trying free rolls but think this was probably a one off and I just happened to catch lightening in a bottle

If you play online you can track yours or other peoples play by visiting the website OPR. Official Poker Ratings. Just enter online name and what site you wanna track them on, stars,888 and so on.

For live results go to Hendon Mob and enter the players real name and see most all results. Some casinos don't repot.

From my point of view everything changed online after black friday. I prefer the live tournament scene. Cant give you my real name so I won't talk about live winnings. My online handle is drawcoat and I have multi thousand dollar tournament wins on both Full Tilt and Poker Stars that you can find listed on OPR. it is quite specific about your results, so fun to read.

You have to opt in for full tilt and pokerstars for data to be tracked.

Do not play anything other than cash or tournament Hold’em poker games online.
I’ve been involved heavily in gang Jg for a long time and blackjack is a game that you can win thousands in one shoe and possibly lose thousands in the next, so you have to be able to handle the swings and doing it online is crazy since these servers are held offshore.

I used to play lots of Texas Hold em and Omaha cash games. But with people getting smarter about the game I've found that it's harder to make a profit. The entire landscape has changed from players having a grasp of only the rules to current players who are much more in tune with strategy and thus elevating the level of play. So I don't play nearly as much as I used to. I will still play tournaments and games with my friends live but it's to have fun.

William Hill does Live Casino and I've switched to playing speed baccarat. I love having a casino in the comfort of my own home or anywhere else I choose.

Not sure about blackjack rules but you can pay via instadebit. In the past Canadian credit cards didn't work, you had to get a prepaid card.

I've only withdrawn once before but they can wire it right to your bank account. Worked no problems

Still a lot of fish in the lower stakes, but your right. Even at that level the game has gotten very tough. The thing to do is pick one style and try to master it. Like I decided I was going to try and specialize in 6 max SNG's. I think I'm almost ready to move up in stakes because I'm finishing in the money now more often then not.
