Why, aren't they protective when pushing a shopping cart? People wear paper masks
so you pick your nose with your protective gloves. How does that help you? Think man!!!!

CNN had some expert on and he said around 80% of the world population might get infected.
So 80% of 7 billion = 5.6 billion.
With a death rate of around 3% that means 168 million people might die.

Thats insane!

Hurrah, we are all safe. Now we don't have to be scared anymore.

Kelly Ann Crazy just told us, that the Corona virus is contained, due to Trump's fast actions.

They need to close the borders for people coming from Italy and Iran, but Trudeau won't do it.

LOL - god, you idiots.

There has been a single coronavirus death in all of 'The Americas' which wasn't connected to a 3km diameter circle in one spot.

That was some 80-year-old who had been on a cruise ship.

First U.S. Colleges Close Classrooms as Virus Spreads. More Could Follow.
March 6, 2020

“I’m like on the run from the virus,” said Zara Khan, a junior at the University of California, Berkeley, who left a study abroad program in Florence for London five days ago. “I could go back to the States,” she said on Friday, “but that’s not even safe anymore.”

I cancelled my yearly spring trip to Rome. Mostly because I don't want to take the risk of spending a couple of weeks in quarantine somewhere.

Concerts, large events, social gatherings are being cancelled left and right. I've never seen anything like this in my life!

OnTheWayOut

Is it just me or does anyone else have the song "My Sharona" start playing in their head when thinking of the virus?

I agree that in about a month or two we'll see where this is at and be either laughing or crying.

One thing I heard from a couple doctors that is interesting. Do NOT cough into your elbow as the virus can live for about a week in your clothes. Better to use a tissue, throw it away and wash your hands if possible. If you are in a pinch use the elbow and be sure to wash the clothing asap. I find it ironic that there are signs all over where I work saying to use the elbow.

I also read where a team in Texas had a vaccine for Coronavirus ready to test in 2006 (I think, could be off on the year) but the clinical trials were not funded. A shame but as article pointed out at that time there was no pandemic getting everyone all excited. Hindsight ..... still, that vaccine was on ice and is now able to be tested so hopefully can be rolled out sooner rather than later.

Also if you have Sirius/XM radio they have a channel dedicated to Coronavirus info, it is channel 121. It is active on ALL radios, subscribed or not. I went to turn it on but it was 5:48 pm and it did not become active until 6pm last night. It has updates from time to time but is mostly info from the Doctor channel regarding Coronavirus discussion. I just turned it on and they are talking about the realities concerning making a vaccine. Interesting but I don't think it will replace Classic Vinyl or the sports stations just yet. Still, a resource to keep in mind.

I think what is meant is don't sneeze or cough into your hands but rather use your sleeve instead. Of course if there is tissue available that's the obvious one. Why on earth would anyone sneeze into anything else if a tissue was available. People don't cough into tissues anyway. They instinctively cough into their hands. Especially the older generation since that's what they're taught. What's disgusting is people who sneeze into their hands rub their hands on their pants and just go one with their business like nothing happened. Who coughs into tissues anyway. Sneezing into tissues I can see.

The point is if you're sneezing or coughing into your hands you're touching everything afterwards and potentially infecting other people. Use a tissue and if one is not available use your sleeve instead.

Lets relax guys. I regret starting this thread if it starts scaring people.

My siblings are very smart, they work in the medical field and I trust their judgement. They have told me the following:

They tell me the threat is overblown in Canada and the US. Those who are most at risk are the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, Asian and those who live in extremely polluted countries like China, Italy and Iran (pollution damages the lungs and prevents sunlight from killing viruses).

The virus in North America is the weaker strain. Also, because they tend to have a specific receptor that attracts the virus, Asians are more likely to catch the virus. Because Blacks rarely have the receptor, they are the least likely to catch the disease and Whites are likely not to catch it because they do not have a lot of this receptor.

Many people in North America have probably already had the disease but do not know it because it is so mild.

If you disagree with this analysis, then ask yourself why Sars and this virus has not taken off in Africa.
