You're like Maiden bro I get a history lesson and a song very cool.I wanted to find out if there was any connection between Saint Etienne and Etienne Marcel, I figure that looms large in French history. After the disastrous Battle of Poitiers, the French King was taken hostage for ransom. Etienne Marcel as Provost of the Merchants Guild became the most powerful man in France - but he was no Oliver Cromwell. He attempted to devolve power from the Monarchy, the imprisoned King Jean was vehemently opposed. He lead an insurrection, was defeated and killed - King Jean died in captivity.
Etienne Marcel was right all along.
