I find the idea that the Auditor General spent any time looking into whether the government is meeting carbon targets to be logically problematic. Her primary function is to review the financial performance and practices of the government. Here's the AG office's own description of the role of the AG: http://www.auditor.on.ca/en/content/aboutus/whatwedo.html

It seems odd to ask people with accounting and auditing skills to comment on the effectiveness of environmental policy.

Clearly it was a mistake, and an act of pandering to the eco-lobby, to shift the duties of the former environmental commissioner to the AG, instead of just discontinuing a useless oversight function. Ford should learn from this. You never get anywhere by pandering to extremists.

Did you even bother to read the whole thing before you vomited it out in your post? :

"The Auditor is also required to assess whether government and broader-public-sector activities operate with due regard for economy and efficiency, and whether procedures to measure and report on the effectiveness of programs and organizations exist and function properly. This is known as the “value-for-money mandate.” For more detailed information on the Auditor General’s role and responsibilities, see our Office chapter in the latest Annual Report. "

Of course I read it. Do you actually have something to say? Do you think it makes sense to have accountants reviewing the "effectiveness" of eco-policies? Or were you just upset that I found the opinions of the AG on this topic to be useless?

I think you may have failed to read that this area of government operation was not previously within the mandate of the AG - I think for good reason.

Ford should tell the AG to play by his rules otherwise he will remove her from her position.
Trudeau made that an acceptable practice so Ford should do the same. No one will complain about it and apparently it's the right thing to do.

The auditor general is an office not just a person. He has staff and specialists to deliver on her mandate. The reason it was added was to ensure some oversight that the govts actions would deliver on its goals.

The provincial controller already resigned when Vic asked her to endorse the govts fake deficit numbers....

I think JT beat the right wingers to that move when he earned an ethics violation wrongfully pressuring JWR and then replacing her. Wow you have a short memory.

You moved the goal posts.
She resigned from her position as AG.
That is what you were wrong about.
Just like your claim that Scheer would win a majority.
Semantics.
She was pushed out when Mr. Blackface couldn't convince her to bend the rules for him. Hence one of his official ethics violations that you pretend don't exist.

Suddenly you are a man of principle ? Funny, I can't recall you ever criticizing Trump for the dozens of times he did this type of thing....LOL

Roflmfao!!! The Canadian governments, provincial and federal, have been playing this game since Chretien bought into this climate malarkey. Always promising and signing up for everything and, then, promptly ignoring it or simply moving the goalposts. That's the beauty of the climate war- you don't actually have to post any results and that's why it's so popular with the political class. Revenues galore for nothing.

You anti immigrant types can't make connections, can you?
Climate disasters have forced more than 20 million people a year to flee homes in decade, study finds

Cheaper to start fighting climate change then deal with mass migration.
