I agree with everything he said about people ( of all colors ) not wearing poppies . His emotional approach was very disrespectful imho . Coming from a family that had a grandfather that was a veteran I wear a poppy every year out of respect for him and I always will . The real issue I think he should be ranting about is our pathetic elitist government that doesn’t provide the proper benefits needed for our veterans that are sent to war zones and come back seriously injured and have to than barely get by . Trudeau is absolutely shameful
I agree with your sentiments about veterans,,,,,,,,,,,,however Trudeau is not the first leader who has shed crocodile tears on Nov11,,,,,,,,govts of all stripes have conveniently heaped praise on vets and their service, only to treat them like shit the other 364 days...……..as for Cherry, he hasn't been relevant for years, and Rogers lack the spine to get rid of him
I was using Trudeau because he is the leader of the moment and I agree 100% that all past leaders behave the same way , as for Cherry having to lose your job because you opinion isn’t popular is also an issue of free speech ? Nothing he said wasn’t true it just isn’t politically correct imho

I didn't wear nor buy a poppy, in any event. I don't see the point in doing it, from a personal standpoint.

From a personal perspective I have tremendous respect for those who put their lives on the line so I can enjoy the freedoms that I have today. The least I can do is support them in any way I can.
As for Don cherry he's part of the old guard and his opinions Although I don't always agree with I do respect. But then I've always had a lot of time for people that are senior to me. I figure I can learn from the life experiences they have had which I have not.

Do you or Cherry know where each immigrant is from, and what their respective struggles were. Are the indigenous people included...by mistake? And for those who have appreciation, they need to show it to him and those of his ilk by way of a symbol? For fear of not being lynched or something? Who the hell is he and why does anyone need to do anything for the approval of him and his crew?

I watched last night. To me, it started off as a rant against the (big) city dwellers and elitists who can't be bothered to wear a poppy, then delved into the "danger-zone" with his inference to immigrants. Unfortunately, he's correct on both counts... He lives in Mississauga and that IS what you see. The lack of poppy wearing is quite noticeable this year.
For all his warts and hockey opinion, Don Cherry is a true Canadian patriot and die-hard military supporter. He is beloved because of this.
Instead of trying to see him fired, people should respond by buying a poppy.

Don Cherry has never experienced warfare, he should shudd up shuttin up.
It's something you can never recover from, the best you can hope for is to become productive in society. My father was a survivor of the Siege of Tobruk, my American cousin did a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1969. Both suffered/suffer from survivor's remorse. I'm going to NJ for Thanksgiving in two weeks, not sure if he's attended Remembrance Day ceremonies in DC lately. I wanted to ask if I could attend them with him, I was advised not to. Seeing his friends name on the Vietnam Veterans Wall takes it out of him.

A few times a year, Cherry rides the "I'm a Canadian patriot" train. He doesn't even get the names of the regiments correct. He can't really be bothered. It's a sham.
While i'm not a fan boy of Don Cherry. Don says the same thing every year about veterans and buying poppies since 1982 on HNIC. Why is this even being talked about. Oh yeah we are in the world of social media now.
He's 85... No question, his mind is going. I remember listening to a speech from Hazel McCallion, it was horrible. She's lost her thought, stalled, said "et cetera" a zillion times... It was sad, but understandable as she's bloody old.
Back to Don Cherry... He is certainly not a man of the times, but he tries. The Legion blazer, the Indigenous beaded poppy and cheers from the small towns are representative of his support.
