There is a following who believe the Flat Earth theory is true!
I have been hearing this for a while & I'm curious if you have also done some reading about this "Flat Earth Theory" where these individuals believe the earth is flat.
Is this the first time you have heard of this report?
Are they just totally wrong about the earth being flat?
If you do a Google search there is a lot of information about this topic
Yes most of us are sure the earth is round but what about the other group, did the flat earth theory start of as a joke in social media?

This started as a joke and of kind of a troll however people with mental issues and disorders started picking it up. The influencers took advantage, and eventually got a following. Kind of what religion does which is pray on the weak minded and often abandoned members of our societies.

The fact that people are still treating these trolls seriously gives them the support to keep going like the bullshit religions across the world.

Nowadays anyone can make things up even if ridiculous as flat earth, gather followers and generate a movement.

However its a great example of just how manipulated and brainwashed our societies are. Looks like the sheep just need a shepherd because they cant think for themselves. The heard of sheep spawns feeds the wolf who pray on these weak tribed animals and the wolf spawns and gives purpose the sheep dogs with equal killer instinct as the wolf but with a consciousness and moral code and uses the protector excuse to hunt the wolf as justification for the kills.

In a nut shell this explains exactly what’s going on in our societies especially with this flat earth movement.

I was very surprised Rono at how many articles have been written about Flat Earth.
I had watched part of a few videos listening to an interviewer ask questions in regards to flat earth & each person responded they wondered why there was any doubt that the earth was flat. |2 /-\ | /|/ had a good explanation.

They are the same people who believe vaccines cause autism; Zionists are controlling the world; and who watch Fox News and InfoWars.

Many are members here on terb also.

That’s how these theories get rolling. You can take any crazy conspiracy theory, do a Google Search, and at the click of a mouse find yourself emersed in sites posting conspiracy theories, junk science, and fake news. They are all bs but if someone is exposed to enough of them they begin to think, “Hmmmmmm...there must be something to this if all these people are talking and writing about it.”

They are fringe/outsider kinds of views that the internet facilitated by allowing people who would otherwise be social misfits into a community of like-minded people who support each other online in believing crazy shit.

Nailed it.

Also, that debate video is about 56 minutes too long. Only takes a few seconds to say “no”.

,

Grimnul, I had watched about 15 minutes of the video to see how they had responded to the interviewer & without a doubt they truly believe the earth is flat.
It is very scary how easily people can be swayed to believe in something without question & defend their position. Believing in the earth being flat doesn't cause any harm to anyone.
I sure hope someone doesn't start a new media story that humans can fly by flapping their arms while jumping off of an office building!

The internet is a force multiplier for human stupidity and an adventure playground for anti-vaxers, flat-earthers, Columbine deniers and Trump supporters. God help us... er on second thought never mind about God...

Lynn: I used to think these people were harmless too. Unfortunately, it is this same type of thinking that is leading large numbers of people to believe that vaxxines cause autism which has led to the return of measles to North America.

Moreover, this willingness to disregard facts and rational thought is leading people to reject climate science and to believe all kinds of nasty, hate-fueled, racist conspiracy theories. This stuff is literally eroding our health and development as a society...it is not harmless once you get significant numbers of people thinking this way.

It’s absolutely not harmless because it degrades the integrity of science and objective facts. When people can choose to simply ignore facts because they don’t like them, it becomes a big problem. Look at the media right now. Look at this Mueller situation. Half the people believe Mueller is a charlatan, corrupt, in the pocket of the left (despite the FBI traditionally being conservative-leaning), and that the investigation was a witch hunt instigated by a cabal of leftists, led by a George Soros who is somehow both a dirty Jew Zionist and a nazi. Half the people think Trump is literally worse than Hitler, a traitor, a thief, a liar, and should be in prison. Both can’t be true, and yet, each side is adamant.

This is the problem. Misinformation is passed as fact, people buy into it and disseminate it, and suddenly objective fact means nothing. Vaccines don’t cause autism, that’s been discredited for years, and yet people adamantly believe it, and now measles are back. Perhaps polio and smallpox will be next. Facts are facts. Truth is truth. People think their opinions are more important than facts, and so facts are now becoming meaningless. This will get much worse before it gets better, and we will all pay for this “fake news and alternative facts” era sooner or later.

Let me guess, you want to ban these people from social media? The flat earthers, the climate change deniers, and so forth.
