The polled numbers are crazy low. It should meet a 100,000 person minimum and made very public. ie News, newspapers, etc.

There is NO GOD that likes to be prayed to in a room.

Nowhere does it say someone needs to pray in a designated area. There is absolutely no religion that goes by that.

Prayer (meditation) can be done anywhere and to fund a special area in a public space is pathetic.

Maybe Islam needs to ask Allah why is he soo demanding that prayer must be followed daily and in a special public space?

The petition makes the same point, that a special room is nor required, and that Muslims can pray anywhere. However, since praying is preceded by washing, and performed kneeling, it says it would be least disruptive and most convenient for Muslims and non-Muslims alike, if it could be done out of the general ares used by the public.

No real biggie.

AS for asking Allah for to 'splain his longstanding commandments, that's your idea and you should ask him yourself. While you're at it, ask Yahweh, and the Triune God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit to 'splain their commandments as well, not to mention the thousands of other gods we've invented, over the millennia to tell us how to behave. But simple tolerance is easier, faster and better for all of us than stupidly demanding the answers you prefer from someone else's deity.

Try it.

if you want to pray to go home or go to your mosques and temples
^^^ This. I don't care what the religion is, it has no place in our public spaces. Keep you mumbo-jumbo at home or in the place you paid for. Also, pay your fucking taxes on that place.

So they have to put in an area where they can wash themselves before they pray? Is that correct?

No.

Apparently you haven't read the petition. Always best to have the facts on whatever one is complaining about or opposing.

I'm not complaining or opposing, you assumed that on your own, I was just asking you a question. In you post you mention that washing oneself is done prior to prayer.

Setup a prayer booth and then charge them $3.00 for 5 minutes in the booth with the presto card on top of the regular fare after 5 minutes prayer
Plus service charge, plus the building fund levy plus tax and tip and tithe.

Always best to go to the source, rather than ask for secondhand opinions. The petitioners dealt with your question in their original submission.

I'm sorry you took my general statement personally. My advice is, you should try to avoid that; it causes needless discomfort.

"Matthew 6:5-6 King James Version (KJV)
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

Tolerance? Why?

Look where we are today because of tolerance.

No, I disagree. It is indeed a real big "biggie"

In fact, it's a fucking "hugie"

Fuck any special interest group that figures it needs to be "accommodated" or "tolerated" and frankly have the rest of society pay for it. (And this goes to all religions.)

"No biggie"

You have to be kidding me.

It is what our ally Saudi Arabia used to police its
people. Without it the House of Saud will be
overthrown and we will lose a pro-western
and more or less pro-Israel friend in the
the Middle East
Thats very true, but it doesnt really answer my question other then the fact we have a solid ally in the ME

I didn't take it personally, I couldn't care less about your opinion of me. You just assumed I was opposing it or complaining about it. I don't know how you reached that conclusion from my post.

I don't have a problem with a prayer / quiet rooms as long as they are open to everyone. These rooms are now commonplace in airports and train stations in Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, etc. That being said, it is not always practical to put such a room in some stations as some might not have enough space.
