On the other hand, there's always been a thought in my mind about what it would be like to live in southern Kazakhstan! I have visited that country previously and just wondering if living there permanently will be any different from being a visitor?

Davious, you'll always have a party to go to & a cheerful bunch to get to know! Fabulous, good spirited place to hang your hat!I'd move to newfoundland. I always wanted to learn their native tongue mainly because it requires you to be drunk to understand or be understood.
I'm too soulless. Christmas cheer cannot penetrate my black heart. Also, don't wear hats... too creepyDavious, you'll always have a party to go to & a cheerful bunch to get to know! Fabulous, good spirited place to hang your hat!
Davious, I'm sure when your around a roomful of down to earth soles your heart will open up & feel a lot lighter!I'm too soulless. Christmas cheer cannot penetrate my black heart. Also, don't wear hats... too creepy
20 years ago you would be correct but I'm not so sure now. Increasingly dangerous and violent, through the roof healthcare costs, increasing severe weather patterns, and politically divided are just some of things to consider. I would choose Australia or New Zealand. This would be the overwhelming choice of your countrymen.
I'm with you on the glad to be back in Canada. I've lived outside for short periods (max was 17 months) and was always glad to get back. Have friends and a large family that I miss - and now with two kids - would never want to be too far away. Unlike you, I love winter though. So I plan for my retirement to be in Toronto for Winter (with at least one major ski trip for as long as my knees hold out) and Summer (at the cottage) and parts of fall - but with extended long trips in late fall and Spring. Eg: Late Feb through March - 6 weeks in Hawaii. Fall (the dreary grey days like now) - 30 day trip somewhere different each year. My kids and I have rented nice places on the North Shore of Oahu every year now for 6 years and it's actually pretty good value for a really nice place and if you live like a local - it's not overly expensive.I’ve lived in different places so far in my life but always glad to be back in Canada.
If I chose any other place to live it would have to be HOT with NO WINTER!
Including life, if you're Rohingya.Myanmar, nice weather and everything is cheap over there.
Ha ha thanks eternalbachelor! I remember that film quite well.
Medman52, your request sounds fantastic but then you're faced with hurricanes & some nasty tropical storms. Maybe a dodging hurricanes is a better deal than shoveling snow & freezing!I’ve lived in different places so far in my life but always glad to be back in Canada.
