How much has the loss of websites (Craigslist/Backpage) reduced your casual hookups?

I am curious to know how much the loss of the two top websites to find whores (and men if you are inclined) has reduced the casual encounters you have done over the past year.

Personally I would look a lot but rarely actually do something, just now and then if I was horny, drunk enough.

Thoughts?

I haven't seen nearly as many SPs in 2018 as I did in prior years. I'd say Backpage is a small part of that. But I would say that the quality of my hookups has increased greatly.

It's hurt the hookup and independent SP scene for sure. Used to be so much more quantity and variety. Give it a few more years and the Feds will shut down leolist just the same.

Going to state an unpopular opinion but CL's CE section was a huge waste of time if you were a straight guy.

I did meet one lady I hooked up with a couple times, went on one date that never went anywhere and received a response from someone I just wasn't into at all.

But for the most part, the responses I received were from spammers/scammers, pic collectors, time wasters and predatory gays. I even received a couple solicitations from SW's.

I have always loved Redzone and Leo list does have some gems. And VIP favours . And here as well on Terb. The ladies are always out there. Backpacks was shut down by the US.
I do not think Canada can shut it down so fast. so its very easy to hook up. the ladies just move to other sites.

If you classify women has whores and (include men if you are so inclined) shouldn't you be calling them, the men, whores too?

I don't know. Seems better to be fair when purposely using demeaning language. You don't want to appear sexist on top of appearing rude and disrespectful.

PS - if you are implying that sex workers are whores, then you really fucked up. Because how is she the whore if she is getting paid? And does that mean you are slut for having casual encounters? Or because you are man are you just an asshole or a dog? I can't keep up.

Questions to ponder on a Sunday morning.

Here is another question to ponder: why do we experience "whore" as a demeaning term? It's a lovely, redolent, historic word, much loved by Shakespeare, which fills the mouth and echoes a thousand literary allusions. It's actually a pleasure to slowly pronounce the word, to savour it. To me it conjures recollections of the most positive, practical and pleasurable interactions of my lifetime.
I acknowledge that it has traditionally been used as an abusive term, but perhaps it's time to reclaim the word, to respond to the fact that, as the SP profession has gained respectability, the word's impact has undergone a transformation from demeaning to celebratory.
(I feel the same affection for the term "cunt", often experienced as an abusive term but to me evocative of biology's highest expression of beauty.

Maybe you are just in the minority. I know I often am.

Don't know what to tell you.

Start a movement? See how it goes? Maybe get a GoFundMe account to help cover the cost of travelling the world and spreading the goodness of the word whore?

I haven’t let the changes in websites lower the quality or frequency of my encounters with SW’s.

Yes, things changed, I had to search more. But there is a certain macabre Pleasure in the searching. Ladies found new and different places to advertise. There has been an increase in independent advertising here on terb and a lot of agency ladies are more visable here and on twitter. I’m still waiting for the predicted twitter shutdown. Apparently they’ve blocked accounts but only the obvious ones. Other places to advertise popped up fast. Obviously, it hurt ladies in the US way more than here, desperation forced legitimate ladies into riskier behaviour with disastrous results.
Wiping out backpage which was almost a monopoly is a good thing. It increased/promoted competion in the advertising industry. And, as usual, the cream rises to the top.
The best ladies are still the best ladies. And with a little searching you can still find them. A lot of ladies had thier websites shut down and had to find a new place to host.
Leolist seems to be the most popular advertising spot, but that attracts the most scammers as well.
I have fallen for fake pics before and probably will again. But once in a while I find a gem.
If/when I want quality over a bargain, reliable ladies are easy to find. Most ladies I see are from here or found on twitter. Here in the GTA, both agencies and Indy’s are thriving.

And, hopefully, I managed to express my opinion without derogatory language.

By definition. If she wasn't getting paid she would be a slut.
Although it seems a lot people these days use whore when they mean slut.

Regardless of any value judgements these words may or may not have, they do have meanings.

What's next, how is that guy gay when he only wants to fuck other dudes.
How is McDavid a hockey player when he plays hockey
How is that guy a vampire just because he is undead and feeds off the blood of the living and is allergic to sunlight.

I get it. Use the words you want.

You could be the type that think the N word is okay to describe black people too.

I was simply pointing out the possible sexist nature of not calling the men he was including with the same label.

I never said this, I never said the use of said term in that context was OK, or expressed the desire to use said word in that or similar contexts. Maybe you should read before you respond.

"Regardless of any value judgements these words may or may not have, they do have meanings. "

See this is me actually not making comment on what is appropriate or not. I make no comment on if the word is suitable or not. That wasn't the issue I was wanting to address.

Also as you sort of alluded to, he would be a slut, not a whore. They are not the same term although whore is often used incorrectly instead of slut which I figure reflects the negative attitude people have towards sex workers.

So if you should have issue with what he said, it should be with his lack of willingness to use <similar> terms to describe himself, not the same term.

However upon reviewing the original post, either slut, skank or whatever just wouldn't fit in, he wasn't really talking much about himself in a way that would need the use of labels.

To be clear, I am not all that comfortable with the term whore because it is a bit loaded again because of negative social views towards sex work which I don't share. Not just because I use the services either, I'd had no problems entering the field if I had what it takes and the money was right and be a prostidude. To paraphrase George Carlin's character from the Jay and Silent Bob movie "I'd take a shot in the mouth if it got me closer to my financial goals"

Yup, I also had sex on the first date with a POF date.

And it was probably one of the worst experiences of my life.

Also had some success with OKCupid but it never went beyond a blowjob with one woman.

While you're at it try to reclaim gay. Those bastard took away a very happy word. I can't even say I feel gay today for fear of being misunderstood.

You can't have your cake and eat it also. Women will often go out on a dinner date just for a free meal. Some will argue they are blessing us men with their time. That it takes time and effort to put themselves together for us. Well, what about my time?

What the fuck does her time or your time have to do with the word whore not being applied to men?

And I don't care about a "free" meal. I buy my own meals so take all time you want. LOL

So wait - you want me to read, which I did, but you don't want to read.

When did I say I had an issue with the word? I never said that. I said it could be considered sexist because he did not apply the same term to the men he then added in brackets.

BTW - whore is his go to term for women. Just check his posting history.

So recap - I agree that if I were upset, which I am not, it would be at his lack of use of the word or similar word to diiscribe himself or the "men included" if you are so inclined to see them. Like I said, to some it could look sexist.

Just because someone makes a comment and to be clear, just because that person has a vagina - doesn't automatically be they are upset or taking issue. They could be be commenting for the sake of making a comment.

So thanks Johnny - glad we got that all cleared up.
