Scaramouche - good for first time. But I stopped going there when the duck breast I ordered tasted bland - frozen?

I don't recommend Edulis though. Did not have a good experience there after much hype.

I’ll be in town for a few days in a few weeks. Does anyone have any must try restaurant suggestions? Looking for anything uniquely Toronto or just delicious food. I’ve googled it but I figure it’s always best to ask the locals.

If you like dim sum, and even if you don't, Luckee by Susur Lee has become my "go to" place for out of town guests.

Decided to spontaneously check out Scotland Yard on the Esplanade Friday night and I liked it. They have a pretty great burger; scotlandyardpub.ca/

They have a really great selection of craft and microbrews on tap, some of which are brewed on the premises. I recommend trying the Dijon Chicken; it's the gold standard to which you hold all other chicken fingers.

You can not go wrong with either Canoe or Alo. Heard also good things about Don Alfonso. All fine dining.
I like a Vietnamese restaurant called "Ginger" at 355 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M5B 1S1. It's just 1.5 block south of Bloor ST and on the Yonge St. It's basically next to a strip club LOL. The rice dish and pho noodles taste very good. You expect to spend within $12 for rice dish and $8 or $9 for pho tax included. Tip is optional because it's semi self-service. I usually drop 50 cents in their tip box by the cashier where you order your food. The line can be long during the lunch and dinner time. However, they process your order very quickly. You can ride a subway and get off at the Yonge and Bloor station. I believe they give you 10% discount if you pay cash instead of credit / debit card.

Adega is really good.
That small stretch of about a 100M on Elm St that Adega is on has a lot of variety and a few really good restaurants. Barbarians steakhouse, Frascati, Adega and Donatello. Donatello and Frascati are Italian, Barbarians a steakhouse and Adega a Spanish/Portuguese Mediterranean inspired fine dining.
I would recommend all 4.
Some other recommendations are Kasa Moto (Yorkville), One (Yorkville) and Don Alfonso the newest and best fine dining restaurant in Toronto.

Yeah I’m down for bar food or even just hanging out at a dive bar. Given your user name I’m going to assume you know what you’re talking about!Since you said "Bar" I'm assuming you're not entertaining fine dining recommendations only. I was really impressed with Craft Beer Market. Pub themed food but way better quality. Great atmosphere and obviously an impressive beer selection.
Stop at king taps for drinks and apps and watch the beautiful people of Toronto...then go to dinner at one the above restaurants

I've tried a few times to make reservations at Alo and it was impossible. So much so that they take reservations on the first Tuesday of the month (or something like that) and it instantly books for the month.You can not go wrong with either Canoe or Alo. Heard also good things about Don Alfonso. All fine dining.
I agree with Canoe, great place, but make sure you ask for a window seat (preferably looking west).

Saying it has "character" would be an understatement. All kidding aside, it is a great dive bar.
