Twitter beginning to harass girls and clients's accounts.

Numerous instances of girls and clients being locked out of Twitter earlier today and then made to log back in with codes sent out to their phones by Twitter admin. Girls are reporting losing numerous followers - perhaps bots that had no ability to log back in.

Twitter cautioned those locked out about "breaking Twitter rules". Not sure where this might be heading.

Twitter has been cracking down on fake/inactive accounts for at least the past month. Long overdue IMO.

"Harass"??? A little bit of a deceiving use of the word and your title of the thread IMO. Them trying to get people follow their rules and terms of use is hardly harassing.

They’re making a conscious effort to discourage ‘burner’ accounts.
I created an account with no phone number and within 30 minutes the account was locked. Two ways to unlock: provide a valid phone number for sms code or write a written appeal.

+1 . Twitter was never meant for sex workers - that's what switter was created for .

That would be one way of doing it lol :) Did you get your account back ?

It could be a burner account / bot crusade. That is the alternate explanation. It happened very suddenly and hit quite a few people in the industry.

BBL, "thanks" for you 0.02 cents. You DO realize you're on a johnboard, don't you? If I complain about Twitter harassing girls and clients, I don't expect you to side with them against people on this board and others from the industry. That's like me dropping my pants in church and shaking my dick around.

Twitter and Facebook have been clearing out bot accounts for the last few months.

The problem with the SW industry is many ladies tweet like crazy but don't retweet or like or comment on other accounts.

Men sign up, don't post anything, don't retweet or like. Their accounts are totally inactive.

This makes sense for our industry in someways but it doesn't look any different than a spam bot to twitter's algorithms.

It sucks but we are really the ones on control. Guys - Retweet, like, comment, tweet yourself. Even on a small basis of once a week and your account should be good. Ladies - slow down some of your tweeting and promotion and do more retweeting and liking and commenting.

It sucks that you have a few days of confusion and after every that escorts have lost lately, it is understandable that some were fearful and felt attacked yet again.

no it's true- worse on the U.S side, but i noticed now I will randomly loose and gain 100 followers overnight, but yes some of them are bots.. also they will flag even a covered bikini pic now... fuck censorship!! It's all a distraction from everything outside the Twitterverse

I set up another, non hobbying Twitter account yesterday to avoid having no accounts if I suddenly get banned. No phone. No photo. I just wanted to get it up.

I checked it today and it was blocked. I tried to unblock it by doing the "I'm not a robot" procedure with multiple capcha ID tests. These went on and on for about 10 minutes and I finally gave up. It was clear that Twitter just wanted to force me to give a phone #. No matter how many fire hydrants and street signs I ID-ed, I wasn't allowed to re open my account. So I finally gave them a phone # and the a/c was immediately unblocked.

So that seems to suggest that at least part of this is a Bot Hunt. And that explains the sudden way girls lose hundreds of "followers" - presumably Bots or dormant accounts.

Still weird that my hobbying Twitter a/c was challenged and several other people connected with the business had exactly the same thing happen to them at the same time.

I retweet and often comment and select and reject followers. (I made my hobbying a/c private after someone on this board started "checking up on" me and trying to discover my RL ID). The only weird thing - by normal Twitter standards - is that I rarely originate content - just retweet and comment on girls' photos, etc. And I follow WAY more a/c's than I let follow me.

"side with them"??? Seriously?? I'm simply saying your making it sound like they are this evil entity out to get sex workers. It's against their terms of use, and if you sign up for an account, agree to those terms, then break them, they are well within their right to delete your account. Just because I'm on an escort review board doesn't mean I can't use a little common sense and understand that deleting accounts that a breaks a social media terms of use is hardly "harassing". A bit of an exaggeration on your part.

I was active on my account and my account still got locked. Locked, not blocked or deleted or harassed. I unlocked with my phone# and code, and all those who were ‘unfollowed by me were immediately followed back.
And, it wasn’t a sexworker attack or harassment specifically, it happened to all of Twitter, civiies and everyone.
If accounts were real, and those verified people come back, all followers will return as soon as they put in code.
Locking fake accounts is a good thing. It stops fakes, isn’t that good? I guess it’s not good if you value number of followers over real people.

I am just relaying what I know. Twitter made an announcement stating it was a bot search and account check. I don't know why your account was locked even when active. There is some ratio of tweet to retweet to like algorithm they have. I can't explain it. I don't pretend to know how they come up with. Again just stating what I read.

And yes as soon as accounts where unlocked, followers were all added back.

I never said it was an attack on Sex workers. I said that many in the industry on both sides will have accounts that display behaviour similar to bot/spam accounts. I gave advice how to help avoid that. It is not 100% guaranteed to work but it is something rather than nothing.

I also said that many sex workers did fear being attacked because of all they have lost already this year.

I think your popularity with most of the indies in town - almost all of them essentially advertise on Twitter these days - just hit rock bottom. Maybe your idea is that we should close up TERB as well because johning is illegal under C-36 and every body here knows that.

I guess all those talks about "stigmatized community fighting for its right to exist" didn't interefere with your watching baseball on TV.

Was also locked out of my hobbying Twitter account yesterday. They required my phone number (have been pestering me weeks now to provide it) to unlock it. I refused to give that, but noticed I had regained access after ~24 hrs.

Nooo, not the ever so dreaded “your popularity with indies has hit rock bottom” insult...

Dude, my stance on this isn’t weather I want sex workers to be enabled to advertise on Twitter, im simply saying your use of the word “harass” is unjustified.

By your logic, TERB doesn’t allow members to post about SP’s advertising BBFS. If you do, you’ll get banned or your account will get deleted. Are TERB MODS “harassing” us by simply telling us to play by their rules?

Anyway, I think there’s some baseball on TV I gotta to go watch...

Not an insult. Simply a factual assessment.

You're not understanding the difference. Seeking bbfs is banned on this site because of a consensus that it's a health risk and to avoid it being legitimitized and ladies being pressured to provide an unsafe service. The policy is widely approved of by the ladies.

Now NO ONE on this site believes that Twitter is justified in using the same reasoning re SP's using THAT sire to advertise their services and flirt with clients - apart from you.

By the same token, you would also approve of gays or non whites not being allowed to participate on some sites, simply "because it's against site rules".

I agree that harassed is the wrong word. In this industry, many account do look spammy or like a bot.

As seen others have had their accounts locked as well and are no escorts.

I can understand why some ladies FEEL that way based on what we have lost this year with BP and the USs Law change on the internet and their attack on sex workers. Waking up to see twitter has locked your account along with other SPs, but when all you talk to on twitter is SPs, you are not going to see the hundreds of others who had the same thing happen and are not SPs

So I get the fear and the feel of it, but the reality and intent I feel was actual harassment.
