...Good to see guys play who has the bigger balls on an anonymous forum where it is nice and safe! LMAO
As a (little white) kid I'd go with my buddy on our own and play mini-golf at Jane/Finch a half dozen times each summer. Still have no problem when I go there. And yes, anyone afraid to go to Jane/Finch are chicken shit ignorant, and quite possibly have deeply instilled racist views about the area. There've been more shootings in the entertainment district this summer. maybe we should all wear bulletproof vests when downtown at night?

Mr Deeds is right. The whole thing is a photo-op pretending he and his party give a shit about urban issues.

The most dangerous neighbourhood is…
Waterfront
The sprawling downtown catch-all includes not only the densely packed condoland south of the Gardiner, but the boozy circus that is the King West entertainment district. The result: a staggering number of violent crimes and arsons.

https://torontolife.com/crime/

The safest neighbourhoods in the city are the ones that no one notices—the areas with modest wealth, low population density and limited entertainment options. That means the downtown core is a magnet for assaults, and upper-middle-class ’hoods attract a large number of break-and-enters.

You seem to spend a lot of time there. Why don't you just buy a house and live there?

Entertainment District is assault central

Researchers have pinpointed "hot spots" in Toronto – the eastern downtown section and Entertainment District – where paramedics are more likely to be sent to transport victims of assaults.

The study, "Patterns of Urban Violent Injury," found that the highest concentration of ambulance calls came from addresses in the area bounded by Yonge St., the Don River, King St. and Bloor.

Researchers from the University of Toronto, St. Michael's Hospital and Ryerson University broke the data (4,587 injury-related ambulance dispatches and 10,693 emergency room admissions in 2002 and 2004) into four-hour snapshots, and then extracted information related to injuries caused by a gun, sharp or blunt object or body part.

The results: most assault-related calls for ambulances between midnight and 4 a.m. came from the Entertainment District, an area that has had problems with shootings, assaults and drugs.

You missed my point completely of course. Instead of being sooooo caught up on proving racism, maybe read.

I think it is stupid to be calling the guy a chicken shit IF he was not the one requesting a bulletproof vest. If he was required by the TPS to wear it. Which is what was implied in the what I quoted.

Now if he asked for it himself, think what you want. But if it was mandatory, then he can't really be a chicken shit, he is just following the rules. Many who say he is a chickenshit, on and off this forum, wouldn't go to Jame and Finch at midnight either. I am sure you ain't playing mini golf at that time as a young white kid. Lol.

I never once stated my personal opinion on the subject. Personally though, I won't even bother going anywhere in TO. Between traffic, over inflated pricing, the violence, the attitudes - it ain't all that appealing to me. I will stay on the lake, tanning, relaxing, laughing around a campfire. If you want to call that ignorant - that is cool. I personally call it fun and more enjoyable but that is my opinion and thankfully I have the right to have a different one then yours.

Enjoy your mini-golf. LOL

ANYONE going on a ride along with TPS (and and any other police force) must sign a liability waiver, agree to a security screening, and if approved they must wear a bullet proof vest supplied by the police. It is a liability issue. If they refuse, no ride along. Period.

Here
Have you ever been in an area where multiple people were shooting at each other within walking distance? I have, and it was Jane and finch. Used to work there when I was a lot you get and lemme tell you, you may think your tough but when bullets start flying it's something else to experience.
People have been shot all over the city including some affluent neighborhoods.I grew up in regent park and hung out at j&f when I was a kid. I also volunteered at a youth center up in the area and ya its not the best place to live but where is these days?

Too much pollen outside of the city. Triggers hellish allergic reactions. So I prefer the city, the pollution, the smell of sewers in the summer heat, and all the world class amenities.

You'r afraid to spend time there? Is it that there are minorities living there or is it that you are afraid of people in general?

What you might have missed is that in the Legislature, he's the one who made a point of mentioning the bulletproof vest. No one had asked him about it but he felt the need of saying he wore a vest. He's a grandstanding idiot playing to his racist base.

BTW. You are missing out on an amazing city (and the mini-golf has been gone for decades).

Back to the thread title. Does anyone other than Yarde and Horwath find Tibollo's comments racist? If so, please explain how.
Every time Horwath opens her mouth I am so thankful that her and her government were not elected in to power.

He said he was wearing a bullet proof vest.
Had he said "I put on the vest cause I didn't wanna get shot by a nigga" then he could be called a racist.

C-M, what the fuck other district in the city has thousands of young people awake and drunk at that time of the night?? Of course, that's the area with the most 911 calls!

Crime - especially violent crime - is age driven. It occurs most frequently in people 15-30 and drops off markedly as people age and start families. Throw in alcohol. Throw in that these drunk young people are with a peer group. Throw in that the guys want to show off and act tough when women are around.

Those same shit disturbers behave far differently as 35 year old daddies trying to pay off a mortgage. While a small % remain assholes, most settle down and just try and get though adult life.

Unfortunately people like basketcase are so blinded by anger and hatred that their only means of coping with change is to try and neutralize their feelings by attacking others over the most minute detail they can find.

I guess it is better he vents his frustration on an anonymous internet board as opposed to strapping himself with a body pack of dynamite and hitting the local shopping mall.
I thought that Basketcases's comments were pretty level-headed. You strike me as the person with an anger and frustration problem, Ref. That's the second time today that you've lashed out and made a pretty ugly personal attack on another poster.
