Wearing a bullet proof vest when on a ride along with police to a area known for shootings is racist?

If you read the article you would have known the reason behind wearing the vest.

"When police do a ride along, there is a safety assessment," a Toronto police spokesperson said in a statement. "Since we always err on the side of caution, there is a presumption that the person doing the ride along will be provided with a vest."

^This. Wearing a bullet proof vest in the daylight on a ride along is ridiculous. Hell, I was walking that area in the morning earlier this week.

And if you read the article you would see that the ride-along was from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM.

Have you ever been in an area where multiple people were shooting at each other within walking distance? I have, and it was Jane and finch. Used to work there when I was a lot you get and lemme tell you, you may think your tough but when bullets start flying it's something else to experience.
