So I've been watching Billions since the get go and I have to say, this season is the best of the 3. By far.
But I had this conversation recently as to which character has the greater sense of morality (or moral compass as they say in the show).
In season 1, I would have given it hands down to Chuck. He was the guy who used to make dog walkers pick up their dog's shit in the park. Now, quite the opposite. Chuck has proven himself to be capable of just about anything. He's fucked over his father (who is a piece of work in his own right), his co-workers (plural), his best friend (Ira the lawyer who saved his ass even) and recently he set up the good doctor - Dr. Ari Gilbert and pretends like he knows nothing about anything.
Now Bobby on the other hand started out Season 1 as kind of a slimey bankster who would do anything for the sake of a buck (like he kept on trading on 911 making trades shorting stocks that he knew would plummet after 911, etc. In short, he profited large by 911.) Then there was his conspicuous lifestyle which is just way too over the top for 99.99 percent of us to relate to or even want. He even moved to keep a guy who worked for him from receiving cancer treatment that would have prolonged his life, albeit temporarily so the guy would hurry up and die so that he could not testify against him (Bobby).
But the funny thing about Bobby is that he does seem to have more of a moral compass.
If you asked me to trust one or the other, I'd have to pick Bobby. Chuck has proven time and time again that he simply can't be trusted. He will throw anyone under the bus if it serves his purposes. Bobby won't. He seems to have loyalty to a select few, especially those who work for him. Chuck not at all. Chuck is the definition of the worst boss to have. Someone who can't be trusted and won't back up his people.
So, which is it, who has the greater sense of morality?
The crusading attorney Chuck Rhoades or the greedy money obsessed money man who neither builds or creates anything. Just takes a cut.
