Or we can just agree to disagree and that's it. I'm sure there's many actors I think are great and you don't and vice versa. Nothing wrong with differing opinions.
That would be fine but as many can attest here and by evidence of your long post history that's really not in your nature.

Just stating the obvious.

I see the Triple Crown differently, the Oscars is the only award show that matters, the others are audience rating (IMDB) and critical rating (Rotten Tomatoes).

Black Panther hasn't won any Oscars yet, it's IMDB is 78%, it's RT is 97%

The Shape of Water is close to being the most acclaimed film of the century. Best Picture winner with an IMDB of 76% and an RT of 92%.

Disney's latest family values Blockbuster: A Wrinkle in Time has a 34% IMDB and a 40% RT. It's rating decreased after it's first week ouch.

History will always remember Oscar winners so yes, it is the most prestigious and desired award. Sadly the TV equivalent, the Emmy, doesn't get as much hype but perhaps times are changing.

With the exception of Heath Ledger (Dark Knight) and Johnny Depp (Pirates), I don't think blockbusters ever get nominated for any acting awards. There might be a few others not listed but nobody is seeing them for the characters' acting abilities/range. We all just want a decent story that appears like somebody actually spent time thinking of one, good action sequences, and very little down time/drama/slow spots. If I let out a yawn during a blockbuster, that's a fail.

Since BP was released this year, it's only eligible for the awards given out in 2019.

Wes Anderson is my idol through these difficult times.

This is priceless. The actors in Isle of Dogs in character:

The latest Avengers Clip just dropped. This movie may have hit some cultural stepstones but if that movie even remotely lives up to the trailer no one is going to be talking about BP in a month and a half.

I don't Butler1000, my forecasting vibes are telling me it will be a disappointment, too cluttered. Josh Brolin is a solid choice as Thanos but there are other actors that could have played him more sinister. Look at what David Thewlis brought to Wonder Woman.

Sad news, Irrfan Khan has been diagnosed with a rare tumor, he had roles in Slumdog Millionaire, Jurrasic World and played the adult Pi in Life of Pi.

Richard Parker was not just an icon, he was a God!

I was a complete joke that the propagandist Argo won Best Picture over Life of Pi.

The God motif of The Shape of Waterr brought Del Toro a bunch of Oscars. Strickland (Michael Shannon) knew he had captured a River God. He feared and loathed the creature, he wanted it killed for scientific study. The film was a loose remake of The Creature From The Black Lagoon from Del Toro's perspective.

Finally saw this movie. Kind of needed to since Avengers Infinity War is coming out and one should generally avoid watching movies out of sequence. I'll say it was very good, the graphics/CGI/action was good - it was everything I'd expect from a good Marvel movie and it's definitely one of the better ones.

Would I say it's magically opened my eyes and helped me understand why some people are going over the top about it? Nope. Perhaps it's because while I saw the characters skin color and the "African" backdrop, it made zero difference to me. It didn't add OR take away anything from the movie. I didn't factor in their skin color and simply saw them as characters. I would even argue that people who do bring up race/skin color if anything actually take away something.
