Now that the original Bang Bang Theory is way past its best before date, they are doing a "young Sheldon" spin-off. I hope it is a major bust.

Why? Why would you care enough to want it to fail?

I don't get it either?
You want the already poor programming to be further filled with more?

I predict one season or cancellation before the season is over.

It's crazy because I have been saying after about season 3 or 4, the show has sucked since, yet there was a thread here on TERB about a year ago regarding the show and everyone were still saying they liked it. The ratings were also strong and so actors all got raises as well as contract extensions.

Now everyone seems to think the show has totally lost it's appeal.

I'm just confused what took everyone so long.

They should have done a spin-off about Raj. Almost as funny as Apu from the Simpsons- "thank you come again!"

Actually the actors that play Raj's parents are hilarious. I would like to see a spin off where he is forced to move back home or they come to the states to live with him.

BBT really started going downhill since the end of season 1. Not sire if I hold out much hope for the Sheldon spin off.

Not sure why you say that, I thought there were still very funny episodes until about season 4 or 5. They were pretty much the same characters until then. The show was funny because it was about these socially awkward geeks trying to fit in. Wolowitz was funny cause he was this geeky pervert constantly trying get women who lived with his crazy mom. That's what made him so funny, and for God knows what reason, the writers thought it would be a good idea for his character to get married totally changing what made him so funny. (Can't fault them writing the mom out of the show because the voice actor died so they had to)

They totally over did it with Sheldon and what used to be funny just became annoying.

That's when the show "Jumped the Shark" IMO.

Brian George plays Raj's dad, he's built a career for himself helping people remember how great Peter Sellers was.

Agree, they should have stopped a long time ago. May be until the 5th, they were good.
At this time, they dont have too much storyline to develop for "Leonard & Penny", not too much for "Howard & Bernadette", "Raj" not much going on, they drag the story line too much for "Sheldon & Amy".

I think the spin-off may not go beyond a couple of years.

I grudgingly agree, the show was much better when the nerds were drooling over Penny. IMHO a spin off on Sheldon Cooper wont work, the constant bullying he took would be a bummer.

TBBT reached it's peak when Sheldon had his Tony Soprano moment:

That was funny and the show was still good at that point. The characters were still the same.

Seinfeld had the decency and good sense to pull the plug. Big Bang Theory should have done the same 5 years ago. Does anyone actually still watch the show?

Of course Seinfeld could've continued because the characters did not evolve nor significantly change. The writers of TBBT scripted the show into a blind alley.

I've never been able to get into new sitcoms. Maybe I became too busy or just stopped caring after the 90s.

How do you rate these new hit shows against Seinfeld and Friends from the 90s? I thought those shows were hilarious and the best in their genre.

I'll be honest, I couldn't stand the show for the first for most of its run, but find it increasingly funny now.

Genius of Jerry Seinfeld & Larry David

Seinfeld had the decency and good sense to pull the plug.
Thats the reason Jerry Seinfeld & Larry David still make money on syndication (may be on Hulu as well). They went out when they were very good and so everyone remembers them to be a good show, unlike the other shows.
