The law is clear. If you simply communicate for the purposes of purchasing sex or sexual services, you have broken the law under C-36. Depends what you texted. Don't ever text specific menu requests or questions. If you simply asked for a rate and period of time, that would be okay ("time and companionship"). But I wouldn't even mention those.
Wow thank you gp. Well it's a warning and ive learned my lesson i will no longer communicate thru text. I wont mention menu or rates. I will just see the established providers with good references and i guess the biggest lesson is to stay away from backpage. Thanks again for your feedback. Based on text messages I can't remember what I ate yesterday for dinner and can't believe what I heard. I was basically given a warning and told that I can be charged in the future as my number is now in the data base. I just wonder what I texted that was enough for the text to be illegal. Anyone? I obviously never proceeded cause I'd of been toast thankfully.
Also I used my own cell phone number. I am wondering if I had used an app number like example (textme) the app would they have been able to trace that number to my cell phone? Would it be wise to use an app? Either way I am done texting and like I said will just stick to the providers with good references.

It was a cop and he knew only my first name also I called the number later this evening because of second thoughts turned out to be a landline at the police station. I asked if I could speak to the officer in regards to the call he made and they told me to call back tomorrow. I know you don't want to believe it but it's true it's a constable. All I can say is gp gave good advice. Don't make the mistake I made. I never thought texting for menus and rates was enough but it is. Even with a phone call, your number will be logged and what you say will be reason enough to log your number. It's not like you're calling a wrong number, it's a BP ad that is purposely posted to catch guys looking to purchase sex from ladies, usually in an underage sting operation.I keep saying do not text any SP for bookings and information and stay away from SP's who do so. The only way a phone call to a legit SP would be risky is if there was a wiretap on her line, but that first requires a court order. Of course, if the SP is an undercover cop, that would be a sting operation. (Not sure if cops would need a court order for a sting operation, since there are really only two parties, the cops and the john).
But then again, can they do anything to you if your texts state that you're paying "x" amount for an hour of her time? In other words you're not purchasing sex, just time. Besides, who's to say what actually goes on behind closed doors? A lady who travels goes through the security check point at the airport and they look through her phone... if she still has a record of all her texts regarding appointments that wouldn't be goodApparently, they need a warrant to retrieve your text messages from your cell phone provider.
They don't need a warrant if there's a case involving immediate harm to an individual or national security.
Furthermore, if you are arrested, they can search through your phone without a warrant, UNLESS you password protect it. If password protected, then they need a search warrant.
