Yeah, sorry for the dramatic headline. Did you like Prince? I never really did. I never really paid any attention to him...Little Red Corvette, really, thats bullshit candy ass crap music! I did hear he was an excellent musician, like off the scales fuck'in good....but I never took the time to listen to his music beyond the commercial bullshit. Whatever. But, I was introduced to this....as far as live performances go, this is as good as it gets....and I have seen and heard them all. If you like rock and roll, and live performances, take 10 minutes out of your life and watch this....Motherless Child Live. Thank me later.

This is great but I prefer his more melodic compositions. He was a terrific entertainer, musician and composer.

to the extent that when he passed away GM issued an "ad" with a red Corvette in his memory

Really?
I think the song is/was amazing and catchy as hell.
Great synth intro, a fusion of rock, gospel, soul and who knows what else. Very unique at the time.
Some of the most sexy singing ever when he goes into the break and sings about the ride being so smooth.

Different strokes....I suppose.

Phil and Oswaldo, very funny, and I really did deserve that :)

I wasn't announcing Prince's death, I remember the day last April. Just stating my new bromance with that live performance as it is top notch. Costanza, edging, to each their own, but little red corvette is, and will always be a lame fuckin song. Don't invite me to any of your parties if your playing that shite! :very_drunk: The link again, as this was what the thread was about....

Same. Never gave a crap about his music, couldn't figure out what the fuss was until after his death. What a showman!

Eric Clapton was once asked what it was like to be the greatest guitar player alive, and he responded, "I don't know. Ask Prince." Prince comes in around 3:30:

This was the best Super Bowl performance ever made and it was by this musical genius! It was raining at the Super Bowl and Prince just went with it and performed Purple Rain and just commanded the world to watch and be in awe of this mans ability to improvise.

I think he was a musical genius. Sad I never got to see him perform live.

Was never much of a fan of Prince's music or style but I agree with you 100%.

Thanks for that welcome. but I arrived before you did. Since you gave me the podium I will provide. Very talented musician who got it all together on a few tracks...but his commercial attempts were complete bullshit, like high school band bullshit. But hey, they all have to start somewhere.

To be fair, (and it may or may not be true) Prince often said that he gave Warner Bros. songs that were not his best because they demanded a certain number of songs. He said he kept his best work locked in his vault.
