For a few hours, something was funny with the TERB landing page. It asked for your user name and password in a dialogue box that was unfamiliar.
I don't know the actual name but something like a Man-in-the- Middle or spearfishing attack.
I have seen this before and it happened when someone hijacked a site temporarily to harvest active user names and passwords. Those user names and passwords were later used to access the user account, change their password and their email address. Then a ransom was demanded.
In another case the passwords were phished and the contents of the user's information and private messages were used to determine the real identity of the anonymous members.
So, now that I am back online, the first thing I did was to go check all my PM's to verify no personal information present. Then I erased all of the messages. I also changed to a much stronger password.
Always be careful online. Not just TERB. Although Fred does a great job despite the many hacking attempts, the exposure of your personal information being a user on such a Forum, and the content of our posts can pretty quickly identify individuals. Some might be vulnerable to blackmail / extortion etc. So guys... please be careful online!
