It looks like Sears is dying a very slow death.
Do you think they will survive 2017? When was the last time you were in a Sears store?

Sears totally missed the boat. They used to be a catalog business that would deliver products by mail/courier. They owned that space. They could have been Amazon.

Sears are accelerating their own death by closing stores. I used to buy lots of stuff at the Sears store in the Eaton Centre, but they closed that store and others to focus on the suburban market. Now the same space is occupied by a Nordstrom's, where I can buy a t-shirt for 235 bucks.

I think they will. But barely. I see them focusing on things like that Home Store format they have. I don't see how their traditional department store can continue another year of billion dollar losses. The well has to get dry sooner or later.

Agreed.

Out of all the major stores out there, Sears Canada's site has to be among the worst too. I used to skim all the key retailer sites... Bay, Future Shop, Amazon etc..... and Sears was awful. I doubt it's any better now than 3-4 years ago. And Sears Canada online never comes into my mind anymore. Lousy product and web site.

They could be the worlds best online seller if they were smart. Sears could sell their own merchandise and have specialty partners ship out merchandise for them. The Bay could also beat Amazon at their own game, they are in the retail business in several countries, why not set up a world wide online sales biz?

Everyone is trying to eat the other guys lunch. Even Ford car dealerships are setting up a separate automotive line to sell car parts for cars manufactured by other companies. Soon you will be able to buy brake pads for your Camry at a Ford dealer.
