Anyone recommend a toronto restaurant?

Must be vicinity of roy thompson hall. Regular food.

But the really important thing is that it must have booths.

I don't want the usual toronto arrangement where the dining couples line up side by side, in a long line, the woman against the wall, the man facing her.

I don't want to be closer to the man at the next table than I am to my lady.
I want to be able to hold a private conversation with my lady, and I don't want to be forced to listen to the private conversations of other diners.

BatonRouge
Baton Rouge just down the street from Roy Thompson Hall has booths, is quiet, and has really good, regular food. Ask the hostess to seat you away from other people. Big place to handle Blue Jay and Rogers Center crowds but other times seems empty even when tere are lots of people there.

GREAT ribs, fabulous fries and the house salad is great. Never had a bad meal at any Baton Rouge.

That's exactly what I thought - Keg on York. Book well ahead and ask for the circular booth on the north end by the kitchen.

The downside is that you can't really see the cross-traffic so it might be awkward when the waiter shows up at your table unexpectedly mid-BJ.

The Senator is close to being the best Diner in Toronto, it's on Victoria St. If you have their fish & chips ask for halibut.

And you can't go wrong with Beerbistro (King -Victoria St) although it's more upscale.

I second Baton Rouge, one of two fabulous restaurants with booth seating when I dine out with my favorite ladies. Their ribs are tender and juicy, and their sweet potatoes fries are sumptuous. The other is Moxie's, if there's one near by. Their service as well as food and drinks are first rate.

A bit further east and don't know if you like Moroccan food but I love the Sultan's Tent. Haven't been in a while but I assume they still have the alcoves with the curtains which are great for privacy.

There is a nice place in Collingwood with booths too, but he said it MUST be near Roy Thompson Hall.

Elm is way up at Yonge and College.

Very Classy! One can't help but admire a man who appreciates a good house salad.

Sacre bleu monsieur, you prefer the salade de maison?

Guys like you make me laugh wth using the word "classy". One thing I have learned is that anyone who says they have "class", does not.

I have travelled the world on my own and as a guest of some very interesting people. They have introduced me to and I have otherwise discovered and enjoyed the most exotic and simple foods. From the most incredibly imaginative and surprising creations at elBulli (twice!) to the most simple hamburger, or the simple stone crab or rock shrimp... or in the case of Baton Rouge, an incredibly fresh and crispy house salad. Fresh, fresh fresh greens, house made croutons, smoked bacon, chopped egg and house made dressings that are beautifully rich and perfectly balanced.

You might want to try it before you turn your nose up at it.

Booths... A lisp? Maybe a typo? Restaurant with boobs??

That's easy! Josos!

(The statuary is Not to be missed. The fish, which they bring to the table in a basket for you to choose, is also pretty good.)

Senator is quite a hike (about 25 mins) from Roy Thomson Hall and I've walked it. The booths are pretty small compared to today's standards. The food though is legendary especially their breakfast.
