The simple solution, from a monetary perspective, is to charge admission per person. However, the bigger issue, which is complex, is that some events should be accessible to only specific demographics, so that people in that demographic feel comfortable in the club. It's easy to distnguish people when you only look between the legs, but when you have to look between the ears as well, that's where the challenge arises. How do you spot a lesbian? How do you spot a non-binary person? You can't. There's no physical trait that identifies them. You have to rely on a person self-identifying, and once you do that, it's open to abuse. So, how do you deal with the abuse?

another attempt to appease that misfired; they wanted to look progressive, they ended in boycott, lol
as you said, there is no physical trait to describe a sexual option

the oldest way to discriminate "smartly" is to put clear rules for entrance fee, at a high price maybe, then distribute "guess passes" at a significantly reduced price. You give these passes to key people that belongs to the certain demographics you want to aim for, then hopefully they will distribute.

Make them pay the same admission fee the rest of the people pay. It's called equality.

I read the article. My head spins with the complexity, acronyms, permutations and the impossibility of sorting it all out. Any chance that with most of these non-binary folk that it is just a fad or a lark?

Lots of hatred for cis men there, lol .... look how horrible this reads when replacing the words gay instead of cis and binary instead of non-binary...

the club has been experiencing issues with gay men claiming to be binary in order to receive special treatment, including access to the discounted admissions fee. Once entering the club, he says, they would then reveal to staff and other guests that they were gay.
“We are not sure what to do as they get more sophisticated,” he tells Xtra. “We went to the community on Fetlife to get suggestions of how to filter them out, without inconveniencing legitimate binary people.” “We have done everything we possibly can to minimize the impact this will have on binary people, we are sorry that it has made some people so upset.” He says the club won’t change its admissions price for people who truly identify as binary. “That has never been our policy,” he says. Staff — who have been given “several rounds” of norm-inclusivity training, he says — were told instead to keep an eye out for gay men at the door.

The issue is stupid really
It is one thing to say we accept all lifestyle choices

But when they are doing special events geared to women I don't care how a guy identifies, he was born a man, he is physically a man, and that is end of story
On couple nights it is irrelevant which partner acts as the woman

But Oasis is trying to keep single males out, regardless of orientation. Calling it transphobic is overkill
Want to get in, bring a partner

Pretty stupid for them to capitulate to the masses. The club failed as a lesbian bath house and these people want it to be a safe space from cis men...well enjoy it being shuttered. If a sex club can't pay its bills, no matter of wishful thinking amount from the sjws will keep it open. A least according to them that it's their "safe space".

I liked oasis a few years ago, the only way around this is flat pricing - raise the female price and lower the male price or else turn it into a gay bath house.

I don't think they are trying to keep them out entirely.....they are trying to limit the number of males attending.

If you don't, you'll get a sausage fest.

As a couple, my gf and I prefer to go when the number of single males are low.

I totally understand the single cis male only allowed on certain days, occasionally when I'd go in the summer on those days and just trying to lay by the pool and you have a bunch of" towel adjusters" kinda ruins it for me a bit. Otherwise, if I witnessed any form of transphobia I'd be extremely disappointed and I'm sad that's happening if that's the case

I don't think it is. The article eludes that the cis males were posing as non-binary to get into the club at a time when they weren't allowed.....

I think they were restricted from one event / day, so this may be blown out-of-proportion.

no, it was actually the opposite:
some male born trans gender that looks like a man but feels like a woman (exact terminology is in the article, I forgot it)... was either not allowed, or most likely requested to pay the "cis" entrance fee of $60 (instead of $5 for non-cis males)

and of course it blew out like Chernobyl+Fukushima all combined... all for $55 dollars of savings... lol

The accusations come as the club’s management attempts to deal with an alleged influx of cisgender men posing as non-binary in order to receive special treatment, representatives of the club told Daily Xtra. Oasis Aqualounge is the only sex club in Toronto to advertise a reduced admission fee of $5 for trans and non-binary people. Cisgender men are charged $60.

What I am saying is I don't believe Oasis was doing any form of transphobia (don't know if I stated that right). Rather, they were trying to stop patrons from taking advantage of cheaper entry fees.

That's the way I saw it.

I can't fathom all the acronyms being tossed around in that thread. CIS, binary, whatever.

But here's how I see it.

It's their damn club and they can charge whoever, whatever they want. If you don't like it, don't go. Enough of the crybaby victim mentality already.
