I watched the film.
Karl Urban as Bones McCoy is still the strongest character on the show, Idris Elba wasn't given enough to do. Even with all that make-up is body language is unmistakable, the best physical actor since Burt Lancaster. The story veered wildly, I lost track and just went along for the ride. Algerian actress Sofia Biutella stole every scene she was in as Jaylah, I want to see more of her. Unfortunately her next project is The Mummy where she'll be stuck rimming slavemonger Tom Cruise.
Not a bad effort, but the franchise cannot be sustained without the inclusion of The Great Shat in future projects. 7/10

I fail to understand why they don't include Shatner in any of these films, if they did they could make some serious dough from the die hard fans
actually he died in part 7 (Generations) but in sci-fi that is of no relevance as they have ways of bringing these back for more

they could try to do the time travel thing, but that would be a loooooong stretch.
on that note: why they decided to kill kirk for a couple extra bucks to make people go see just one movie at the theaters is beyond me.
in my opinion, william shatner is still healthy and fit for acting roles (much like harrison ford is) and yet they dont take the opportunity to put him back on the captains chair is totally beyond me. guess this is the prime and perfect example of the stupidity of hollywood.

Saw "Beyond" on Friday. It was just okay.
Lots of effects, not much of a storyline. Essentially this coulda been a really good one hour episode (minus commercials) if it was a TV show. J.J. Abrams basically dragged this out with extended scenes and dialogue to make "Beyond" a two-hour movie.
The cast is great, but this third installment in the series is simply riding the coattails of the first two movies. I'm giving it 3 out of 5.
Save your money and wait for "Beyond" to come onto Netflix/On Demand.

I dunno about that, just saw Batman v. Superman last night and the stupidity in that was beyond me, they could probably come up with some stupid shit but anyways I am not creative nor a screenplay writer so who knows...

These films need to stand on their own two feet and not rely so much on being re-makes and be actual re-boots. Nimoy did NOT have to be in Darkness and perhaps did not have to even be in the first one as well. Die-hard fans will still see this.
I enjoyed Beyond especially after the crap, Into Darkness. I thought the antagonist had more of a purpose to his motives compared to Nero or Khaaaaaaan. Did not like the motorcycle scene, but you know, Justin Lin. Besides it's better than having a dune-buggy.
I would give it a 4/5 but that's coming from a Star Trek fan.
