Does anyone want to discuss how people on TERB felt stroman should have been sent down to AAA or to the pen?
Not afraid to say I was wrong and very honestly, happy I was! Stro looked awesome tonight as long as he kept the ball down which he did for the most part. Had the Jays had a significant lead he probably has a complete game.

Sure thing, if Stro had continued his slump for the rest of the season, he most likely wouldve been sent down to AAA for a short time to work things out. This has happened to many great pitchers, and doesnt always destroy someones confidence like others suggested.
What most recent bandwagon jumpers don't realize is that our Roy Halladay was sent down to minors after 1.5 years in the bigs. His first few starts were amazing and almost had a no-hitter in his 2nd start.
But then in Apr/May of 2000, ML hitters caught up to his 95mph heater. Straight over the top and straight as an arrow. They sent him down, not to AAA but to A Dunedin to rebuild his mechanics for the next year.

He came back with a 3/4 delivery with a 93mph fastball & cutter that moved everywhere. The rest as they say is history, he finished top 5 in CY every year he was not injured after that for the next decade.

So no shame in sending young pitchers or hitters down to work on their game.

AK, being gone for a while you kind of missed the boat on this.

The key to your statement was if he had of "continued to slump". If the TERB GM's had there way, he would have already been in AAA or in the bull-pen
I get that, but it matters very little whether he fixed his mechanics in Toronto or in AAA Buffalo.
I dont buy into the theory that a short stint in AAA wouldve destroyed his psyche beyond repair.

Anywho, it looks like its all working out in the end

Exactly.

Wasnt Chris Carpenter also sent down to the minors for a bit??

if we are out of the playoffs by game then maybe sending him down sounds pretty smart in retrospect

as far as his psyche goes you are saying he is better of getting pounded in the bigs as he figures it out ? maybe they consider it vital to remain with the same pitching coach

different situations. For starters, there was nobody in AAA to replace Stroman so there was no point sending him down. 2) This is a guy that had pitched really well up until his little recent rough patch. You don't pull string on someone that quick. Why? because of the exactly reason he just proved to everyone.

It seems that he may be straightened out, and yes I didn't think he would get it straight at this level this fast. Having said that, if a stretch of 8 poor starts (taken as a group of 8) isn't enought cause for great concern, 2 good starts doesn't make everything great again. Hopefully he has it sorted out.

no he's not out of the woods yet, but that's why you play. Again, with what he showed in the past, and with nobody to replace him, there was no reason send him down or to the pen.

so are you telling us that someone may have lied to you, and you passed it on without confirming it? or are you just admitting you were wrong?
dude, not really sure what to tell you. Someone told me his toe was spit right to the bone, I took his word at face value as I didn't really care to do a whole investigation on it. Someone brought up his injury on TERB, and I just reiterated was I was told. If his toe isn't split down to the bone, then yes I passed it on without confirming it.

Our defence has been amazing so far this year.

2 games out of first. This is exactly where I wanted to be before AS break

29 teams cannot win the WS with the manager they have.

Jays magic number is 79.
