Every time I pass the frozen food section I see these Hungry Man TV dinners. They looks so unappetizing. And holy fuck the calorie count is insane!!
Has anyone on here every dare to try one of these bad boy's?

You may as well empty a whole box of salt into your mouth if Hungry Man meals appeal to you.

I've bought them when I was sick/surgery and couldn't take care of myself, some of them aren't bad but I agree they're full of salt and calories, not something I eat when I'm healthy.

If you observe the economically disadvantaged shlepps who load up their grocery carts with these when they are on sale, you will immediately appreciate the end result of eating this food like product and hopefully be discouraged from ever again considering them. Of course, these same folk have another cart in tow, filling it with sugar laced soda pop

Once every 4 or 5 years I get a craving - the nostalgia thing - then quickly remember why I haven't eaten any during that time.

Had it a few times many years ago, very delicious. Only reason to eat it today is if I'm in a rush , no time to cook anything at home.

I used to love this commercial , as I was a Leaf fan in the Ballard era, lol

I loved the Salisbury steak with corn...but don't tell anyone. :gossip:

I see people buying them all the time they are pretty popular. I eat them sometimes they taste okay for TV dinners and they are pretty filling but yeah they aren't something you should be eating on a regular basis. I usually have one when there isn't anything else better to eat and i really don't have time or energy to cook something healthy.

I use to do food sampling when I worked at the grocery store and I was once doing a frozen dinner product very similar to hungry man. and I had this one asshole give me a 30 minute lecture on how unhealthy what I was serving is and how I am "endagering lives" but peddling this stuff meanwhile his own cart was filled with several bags of potato chips, and a bunch of processed meats,

It's funny how people like to act like the "food police" but only towards people who eat unhealthy foods they don't like.

I eat them every week or so. I buy them on sale in the $ 2.50 -> $3.00 range. Not a bad deal and not a bad meal when I've crashed home looking for something to eat. Favourites are the pub beer chicken, BBQ grill, salisbury steak. And to add to the horror of dietitians out there, I also like the Stouffers lasagna, meatloaf and veal with spaghetti. I'm 6 ft / 200 lb and slim with no potbelly so maybe my body is immune to TV dinners.

I had beer flavoured chicken bites with mashed potatoes and the next day I was sick with the flu. You could imagine how disgusting it was having beer flavoured chicken disagreeing with my stomach. I'm not sure if the hungry man was the reason I was sick or not but all I know is that I was traumatized enough never to have it again. This was years ago. Probsvky when I was about 16.

There was a sale during my first year in university where they were selling for $1 each. I bought 20-25 boxes. I was poor, so I broke it into two meals, and lived of it for over a month. Not the healthiest thing I ever did.

I never touched it again.

Yes, when I was broke I pretty much lived off of t.v. dinners and perogies. Not super healthy but you do what you gotta do. I still love my perogies though - with sour cream and green onions. :)

I used to pick these up occasionally because 1- they were cheap and I was saving some money up. and 2- they were a fast easy thing to grab out of the freezer as I was heading out the door for work. Waking up in the morning hung over and late for work they were fast to grab for lunch. No need to pack a lunch, bring cutlery and tupperware or buy lunch etc

I didn't eat them that often and stopped buying them because 1- you are correct calorie count is insane. And more important not only is calories insane but it is mostly fat (I believe they were somewhere between 35-45% of your daily fat intake and 2- they taste like shit.
