Called my parts store and they said the have used ones so id give it a try. The owner wants it fixed even though i said not to and by a new one

By all that you have said, it seems that the carburator is the culprit.

I have no idea what engine it is or where you get parts etc. But if you are handy, I'd see if you can find a rebuild kit of gaskets or if you can find a new carb, then do that.

But fixing these little fuckers gets expensive fast and unless you are a really good small engine mechanic, they never seem to run right.

. Sears has a decen mower on sale for $219 this weekend that might save a lot of hassle. http://www.sears.ca/product/craftsm...gital&extid=affiliate_comj&affiliateid=749547

Piston Cleaner?
never heard of the stuff and I I am a gearhead and crank case chemist having rebuilt or otherwise disassembled perhaps a dozen various types of engines. No chemical will remove carbon buildup on the head of a piston. Only scrapers and do that.

Besides, that would have nothing to do with his lawnmower running.

Or did you just pull that out of your gas hole?

I respond to your posts as you present them. If I agree with you or support what you are saying, I have no reluctance to say so.

But you just resort to this silly grandpa cackler shit rather than responding with substance or with actual humour.

So... tell me about this "Piston Cleaner" you can spray into the spark plug hole.

Throw some fuel injector/carb cleaner in the gas tank.

OK. This has nothing to do with a lawn mower but I thought that I would take a look at the link you provide . I was looking at garage door openers and found one that was on sale for $120.00 off . Upon further research I found out that there was a promotional code for another $50.00 off along with free shipping . Great so I ordered it . $350 opener down to $180.00 . Yea . Now my question to you Sir is how do you go about finding these promotional codes . I got very lucky in finding the one that I used .

Thanks

I sometimes browse this forum http://forums.redflagdeals.com/hot-deals-f9/ and find deals that I spend money on shit I didn't even need! lol

But if I am buying something I am reminded at checkout of "promotional codes" so will then (sometimes) just google "coupon code" or "promotional code" and see if anything turns up. Sometimes I get lucky.

I took the carb off and there is gas in the bowl. How do i check if its flowing out?

Wayyyy more to it than that. And it is probably not a clog, but a leak or bypass somewhere in the carb or a stuck float or stuck linkage etc. Best to just go to youtube and search there for instructions.

OK, same thing happened to me... after a long winter of dormant non- use, I pull my trusty lawn mower out of the shed, and the dam thing wouldn't start.

I took Schlong's advice :)doh: I know right??? A dead clock is right twice a day...) and took to Google & YouTube to educate myself... :ranger:

I googled the make and model of my mower to get the specific info on the engine, and then downloaded the owners manual... read through that for the most part, watched a few videos on YouTube on how to take apart and clean various systems etc. then got to work...

I drained all the gas, took apart the carburetor, cleaned it all out, replaced the air filter, replaced the spark plug, put it all back together, added premium gas, and it started on the 3rd pull!

Cost me a couple hours and about $20, and good as new!

Thanks YouTube and Google!

Ding ding ding.

Ethanol is the scourge of infrequently used engines, small engines, old engines in classic cars and modern Audi Q5.

Gasoline with Ethanol should be avoided at all costs.

Shell is the only company I am aware of that does not use ethanol and I use it exclusively in my old car and small motors. I used to think it was nonsense, until I suffered severe impacts from ethanol laced gasolines. You take apart your carb and the bowl will have a green moss like slime on the inside of it. It rots rubber and plugs up all the orifices.

Never use ethanol laced fuels if you can avoid it.
All Canada: Shell V-Power, Esso premium, MacEwen premium
Western Canada: CO-OP premium
New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, PEI: all premium grade gasoline
British Columbia: Chevron 94
Ontario: Costco 91; Canadian Tire 91; Ultramar 91
