I was paying for rogers home TV and internet. I cancelled their TV service and said I just wanted their home internet. That was six months ago. I continue to get home internet but have not gotten a bill from Rogers since I cancelled their TV service. WTF should I do ?

Was it all verbal? Did you make any notes? They keep notes on their system when you call so they may have recorded what you told them but if they didn't you could be in for a fight. They have your internet usage so your problem is going to be how you didn't know you were still getting internet when you were using it.

That said, I suspect they'd let it slide and just start charging you going forward.

Agree

You must have known you were getting free internet but the argument becomes legal. They have not charged you and you are not at fault for not telling them so STFU.

Can they legally say you owe us x amount of $ for the last x amount of time plus interest ?

Tell them you have had a new internet provider and did not realize you were still using theirs. I would believe it. They can't make you pay for something you didn't know you were using since you had cancelled their service lol, it's their incompetence that led to this problem. But don't say anything until they call you on it, if they ever do. Wish I had that problem haha. I live in an area that doesn't have Bell or Rogers so I'm stuck with Xplornet. It is so bad, so so bad

Xplornet is better between 1am and 6am. I am thinking of going back to the Rogers Stick. It is just under a 100 a month now for 50gb.

Are you sure that your credit card hasn't been charged all this time? Either case, keep quiet and under the radar until they say something. I'd stay away from downloading big files especially Torrents too.

What they can "legally" say doesn't really matter. It doesn't matter if they would win or lose in court since if they decide to go to court, you lose. Taking them to court isn't an option for you. They throw a lawyer at it since they don't want to set a bad precendent that others may follow. Your legal fees are a gazillion times more than the cable bill even before you get to court so you cave in. And if you don't cave in, say bye to your internet service and credit rating. So only hope if they find out is to be charming and convincing. Forget legal

I had Bell service for a good 15 months before they realized and disconnected it

Either way you will be relieved to read your terms of service
If it is an error in billing system worst case scenario is you would be required to pay 3 bills (past 90 days)
Anything they gave you before that is free (big assumption here that they have made billing error though; if you had a combined bill they often create new account for a single service... check you are receiving bills from them and verify your account number in case it has changed)

Court lol
A few idiots suggesting either of you going to court? Filing alone will cost more than the 6 month bill anyways, Rogers would not waste their breath

This often happens as they have to come and reroute just for internet. You won't be charged for the tv but you would be for the internet. You informed them about the tv but keep the cash ready for when they send you a big bill for the internet I had the same thing before where the cable tv remained after I cancelled it but I paid for internet only.

How fast is the stick? Fast enough for streaming movies? I'm desperate lol. I thought about the turbo hub but even that is only 16gb, never thought about a stick.

I disagree

Rogers lawyers know what they can legally do and they will not try to do something they know is illegal

You pretty much gotta do whatever they say if not you face a bad credit rating

you can negotiate terms of payment if the bill is big

The OP asked for the service he has been getting. If and when Rogers asks him to pay for it, any court would say he owes the money. There might be some forgiveness due because of unreasonable delay, but the principle will be upheld: You owe the price of what you order and receive.

He should bank that money every month, not spend it.

I had a similar scenario several years ago.
I ordered their service, but never got billed.

This went on for 3 years before they realized.
I received a letter saying there was a billing error and my billing will start the following month.
I promptly cancelled.

You will be hit with a bill, a big one eventually. Call them and tell them you will not pay for this. Rogers is known for very aggressive predatory billing practices and horrible accounts payable policies. They won't let it go.

Call for an update if they cancelled your service, if they confirm with a yes - record it. You should have received an email from their customer service rep on a cancelation, if not ask for one. If there aren't any issues sit back and enjoy Internet and cable is overpriced anyways

Why ask Rogers to look at my record? They may look and find out the truth.

I never got a cancellation record, so I think I can assumed it is not cancelled.

You are getting free internet and don't know what to do??? Keep using it.... what is wrong with you??

Oh I must have misunderstood, I thought you cancelled the service but they are still giving it to you. Something in their system has gone awry with your account, but since you never cancelled it, you just aren't getting billed for it, I would be worried they are going to figure it out and you will end up with a hefty bill. I would think about eventually calling them and giving them some kind of story but they are probably going to catch on. If you had cancelled your service but they are still sending it, oh well, but you didn't so that's a little different
