Wrong Saint Augustine. It was Augustine of Hippo, not Augustine of Canterbury who had such a profound influence on the Western World, particularly in terms of philosophy, and who also had a number sexual hang-ups.
Although during his hedonistic youth he did have a sense of humor witness his famous prayer when he was ill "Lord, grant me chastity and continence, but not yet."
Augustine of Hippo lived about a century and a quarter before Augustine of Canterbury.

Actually,...I disagree,...Blue sees that one does not have to go to the big box of religion, and still be true to their faith/religion.
Whether you go to church or not,...should not change your position in your religion.

+1. I was raised in the church. Both grandfathers are pastors but there are some questionable Christians that I have met growing up.
Diligently attending mass doesn't dictate how strong your faith/values are.
Certainly doesn't make you a good Christian. A strong, meaningful spiritual journey should only be between you and your God or Allah or what have you. Not you and everyone else who sees you on Sunday at 11am.

You are incorrect, it was St. Augustine of Hippo who was the one with real problems with sexuality.
There are a fair number of scholars in the past century who believe that a significant amount of this was over reaction to the excesses of his own youth.
If you want to criticize St. Augustine of Canterbury, I suppose the best place to start is that he insisted that Roman Christianity was the only way to travel and that Celtic Christianity which had survived in the North of England (Lindisfarne among other places) wasn't up to snuff. Which is a fairly minor complaint.
I have no proof of a God as speculated by many religions. But there is proof when the sun comes up every morning to grace us with its energy, as it has done for millions of years. IT IS CONSTANT.

I'd say the majority of religious folks are hypocrites when it comes to their actions and beliefs. But then, the majority of all folks are hypocrites at times and to a certain extent. Everyone has their own justifications for why they believe what they believe, and to what extent they believe, and to what extent they follow their prescribed religion. It's ridiculous, but that's how human beings work.
As for me, I believe religion is solely a machination of man that was both very useful and harmful in humanity's past. I think we need to move beyond it to survive and prosper, but unfortunately that's proving to be a slow transformation. When something is so ingrained in your identity, it's very hard to give it up, or question it. It takes generations to cut that link within a family. It feels to me like indoctrination, the way our world preaches religion to our children and propagates the faith. But regardless of your religious beliefs, you are always imparting some opinions on your offspring, so the morality of it all is somewhat moot.
