The 4 door unlimited wranglers, at least since 2013, are no less comfortable than many other small SUVs and Japanese Cars. My wife traded in her Newer Escape plus our grocery getter Civic for a 2015 Sahara, and she absolutely loves it. Solid as a brick, all the creature comforts of any of the vehicles out there, and simply cool to drive. Gibberish about ride and discomfort issues simply tells me you haven't been in one for a few years. The only suv that's also a full convertible, while still towing my boat and my utility trailer... And just a blast to tool around in

For an out the door price of $45k she had her pick of tons of different cars.. But after a year of research... This is what she wanted... And it's a great set of wheels

That seems like a helluva lot of very specific detail of your personal life to be posting on a sex forum... and to what end or benefit? :confused:

A car is never an investment, it is a roll of the dice. There are cars that will do better than others. A very few will appreciate. Can anyone tell me with certainty that a specific car will be worth more in 5 year, 10 years, 20 years? All cars depreciate the most in the first 3-5 years. A BMW 6 series will depreciate 50% driving it off the lot. However, it will not loose much more at the 5 year mark and slowly depreciate from that point, providing that it is in good shape. In the Luxury brands, Lexus cars depreciate at a slower pace than most.

The bottom line is, drive what you like and drive what you can afford.

What...that my wife sold two cars and bought a $45k wrangler??? There are certain things I'm hyper vigilantly paranoid about, but these details don't fall into that category...you wouldn't want to know the REAL Details of my personal life...lol...your comment seems a bit odd actually

I just think that such details are pretty specific and could be easily recognized or tied to you. As a married man, I'd be much more careful about disclosing such specifics of the specific cars your wife bought and sold.

Highly unlikely but the consequences would be pretty extreme if someone tied it all together. All I'm suggesting is that you (and others, especially married guys) be a little less specific on such things that really have little upside for disclosing and lots of downside.

If I had to define a law about these things, I would say that the faster you can safely drive a car, the slower it depreciates, percentage wise... Ferraris, Maseratis, Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Maybacks, etc. ;)

In fact, many of these cars will appreciate... which, again, shows why money goes to money!

Actually Bentleys RR and Maybach depreciate horrendously....maserati as well. Some Ferraris do very well... some horrible

Just take your 4 door wrangler off roading and compare it to a 2 door wrangler in terms of capability, I mean really really off roading, you will understand. While you are climbing up a steep hill on your 4 door wrangler and it rolls over you will further understand why.

His point is that it is a big clue. Not that strangers here care you bought a car, but the other way around, somebody who knows you already and knows exactly what car models you owned and traded in now has a big clue that your handle is you, they can then peruse you posting history to see if other details match and then suddenly you are having a difficult conversation with your wife.

Maybe edit your post to remove some of the very specific details.

Go to some of the Wrangler forums and read the debates by members between two vs. Four doors. There are pros and cons to each, but most agree that the longer wheelbase is actually just as capable if not even safer off road..and the interesting thing is that on these forums, most of the dudes own 4 door wranglers.

I'm of the impression Im having a conversation here with a teenager...so for my part, I am done...feel free to have the last word on the topic .whatever that may be..and if it makes you feel better..clearly your the unequivocal authority

There are a few off roading trails not far from toronto, I assume you are from toronto, just go there on a weeked. Take a look at the toughest trails, and observe what kind of vehicles dominate the scene, it is either 2 door wranglers regardless of age and ancient suzuki samurais.

The roll cage on the 4 door wrangler is inferior to the roll cage of the 2 door wrangler, and this is not taking into account the extra weight of the 4 door wrangler WRT a 2 door wrangler which further increases the stress on the roll bars on a roll over.

Do not take my word for it, and do not take internet forum words for it. Go see for yourself, and if possible rent or borrow a 2 door wrangler and test it against your 4 door wrangler and you will noticed a big difference provided you pick a hard enough trail.

I am not putting your 4 door wrangler down, your wife is using it as a grocery getter, I assume she does not go off roading, and so she could have been served at least equally as well with a RAV4 or a CRV.

I doubt 999 out of 1000 wrangler drivers ever drive over anything more challenging than a pot hole. Maybe a few of them venture into a gravel road. Maybe a few feel really adventurous because they drove on a dirt road.

Here is the problem: the people who DO regularly drive off-road or soft road usually can't use a wrangler because they are are hauling hunting or camping gear for which there is just no room in a two seat wrangler.

Here is the problem: the people who DO regularly drive off-road or soft road usually can't use a wrangler because they are are hauling hunting or camping gear for which there is just no room in a two seat wrangler.
If you are driving more than 2 people then the storage space is an issue. I forget exactly, but is some wacky stuff about the back seat, you can take all or part of it out without tools.

A wrangler with a soft top is a fantastic camping/fishing vehicle if space or passenger capacity is not an issue. Normally in a car you just want to go to the camping/fishing area asap, but in a wrangler the drive is part of the experience, you pretty much drive at or below the speed limit or else the wind noise makes you deaf, so you go slow but you enjoy it.

With the back seat out of the way you can treat the back area like you would treat the back of a pickup truck more or less, it even has holes at the bottom with a plug so if you spill liquid it will just drain out. In a pinch you could just pee while driving and the piss would drain out, or you could just take the doors off and pee to the side. There is alot of utility in a wrangler, it is just that this utility is not normally what most people use or need.

Don't fool yourself, the back of your wrangler even with the seats out has less storage than a Honda civic. Good luck taking a couple of mountain bikes to the mountain. If you go hunting and bag a deer good luck getting it home. And while your wrangler may be great at getting to the ski hill, plan on renting because you ain't bringing skis much less a snowboard.

For any ACTUAL outdoors use you need a Tacoma, Forester, 4runner, Outback, etc., or if you love jeep, at least a Cherokee, all of which can just as easily get to the site even if they can't drive through creeks to get there.

It is hard to compare based just on volume of space. The back of a wrangler is less but more useful as it is one large area, if you are really good at packing stuff then certainly a sedan will be better. You don't need to fold a tent up or roll up your sleeping bags, just drop the top and chuck the sh*t in, then just literally jump up and down on the stuff to pack it tight, and drive off. Unloading is just as easy a loading it.

If it is just you and your best bud camping, then softtop 2 door wrangler is just really really fun and easy.

I am not saying it makes for a great all round vehicle, hell no, but a wrangler offers utility that no other vehicle offers.

The ONLY thing the wrangler can do that the others can't is cross the most challenging off road trails, the kind you would never attempt without another vehicle and a winch to get you out.

Name for me the places you could get to in your wrangler that a Tacoma (or 4runner if you want your Tacoma to look like a car) wouldn't go more comfortably with more stuff and more people.

It's really simply just about personal priorities. We wanted a convertible first and foremost , but also a convertible with some practical utilitarian features, and a convertible that wouldn't have to be stored all winter. From your above list ...identify the mini SUVs or any suv for that matter,in which you can have totaltop down summer fun. Life isn't all about practical shit in boring grocery getting appliances. The wrangler is the only suv that has an actual fun factor. Especially come the warmer months, Simply for the hell of it. Sumilarly,There are a hundred and one reasons NOT to ride motorcycles. Never the less, boys and girls just wanna have fun

The people who are into serious off-roading take any size wrangler, hook up a utility trailer, pack a couple of atv's and off road dirt bikes

Not sure what you are smoking or if you've ever been near/in a wrangler..cargo capacity of 4 door civic=15.1 cu feet
Cargo capacity of 4 dr wrangler=35.5 cu. ft, civic doesn't compare in towing capacities either...you sharing any of that bud?
