So, I'm going to Montreal, for the first time! Any restaurants / places I should go?

Sorry for the short note but I'm very busy right now! Any recommendations for

1) Restaurants - price range below $200 a person
2) Other fun stuff.

I haven't been hobby for a while and I'm not really looking into that.

1. Recommend Rubens for the Montreal smoked meat.
2. Sight seeing? Mount Royal, Olympic Stadium, Old Montreal, St. Catherine Street (like Toronto's Yonge Street), McGill University, the old Montreal Forum, Chez Paree.

Walk up Rue Saint Laurent to Rue Rachel, then down Rue St. Denis back into Old Montreal, La Habitat, Buckminister's Geodesic Dome, and maybe up Crescent Street (English area) and across Sherbrooke Street and thru McGill

You really should hobby in Montreal, the price for quality is phenomenal.

I second that- always been surprised that they have not been tempted to scale the restaurant outside of Quebec!

This place is amazing. They put on quite the liquored coffee show too.

Compared to Rubens, there is a 24 hour diner called Jarys in Anjou-St-Léonard, Montreal-East. I think it's the best in Montreal. (yes that would mean better than schwartz's smoked meat). Everyone has there own take, but I consider myself a smoked meat critic to an extent and Jarys does it gooooood.

I'd vote for Shwartz's, then go to one of the two bagel places, St Viateur or Fairmount.
And order incall, its the way to go there.

Two main party streets - Rue St Denis is more French oriented and Crescent St is more Anglo.
JoJo' Blues bar on St Dennis has great live music and hot waitresses. Good beers on tap.

Pino's Italian on Crescent great for pizza and pasta. Near Wellington's, a great place to meet civilian women.

Fav hotel Loews Vogue. Nice bar and rooms with entire wall of mirrors and couch at foot of bed. Le Crystal hotel close second for entertainment style bathroom showers.

St Viator Bagels a must as well as Schwart' Deli. Good gelato across street from Schwartz.

Definitely try to catch the jazz festival next summer.
