I have a very catchy 416-967-1111 type phone number (business fax number) that I no longer have a need for. I was just going to cancel it but why not sell it if I can make a few bucks.

Can you sell your phone number? How do you go about doing this? My service is with Bell.

I used to have 416-666-6666. Had to give it away as some customers refused to call me on it

In the 6
416-969-6969 would be perfect for an escort agency

Well if it was a landline, I imagine the surest thing would be to "port" ter number over to a prepaid wireless account so from there you could change account information (so you;re not giving away any confidential info) and then give the password and new authentication info to the buyer so then he/she could port the number again to wherever they want.

I think the CRTC said a couple of years ago consumers are supposed to be able to transfer a landline number to a wireless service. Not sure if it can be converted back into a landline though.

How do you transfer a number? Wouldn't it just go back into the "pool" if you give it up?
I think it might be a transfer of ownership from Current Owner to New Owner where the Current Owner transfers his account to the new one? Because otherwise if he "gives it up", yeah it would have to go to the pool.

OP: can you post your experience? I have a 416 number too that I don't care for.

I was told that you cannot sell your number as it's owned by your provider.
Interesting sites posted above, learned something new.
All they are doing is porting out
The legal "owned by provider" is pure bs just to cover the providers ass in case they fuck up and lose your number

Most numbers are only worth a few hundred (not bad but a far cry from the "thousands" some people claim; just because a number is listed at a certain price does not make it worth that price)
It actually is quite simple to get a prime number if you really want one
