Great show by the way. Not that big on musicals but I enjoyed this one. So did she.

Overall, I enjoyed Kinky Boots, and I think Cindi Lauper did a great job with the score. However, to be honest, Harvey Fierstein's book for the musical is so pedantic and poor that it risks undermining the entire musical. I think he gets a pass on this poor effort from critics: a) because the critics really want to love Lauper, b) because the critics really want to the love the story of the musical, and c) because criticizing Fierstein might be perceived as criticizing the message of the show.
