The March Central in Montreal ( Central Market ) was originally an industrial area where there was a large warehouse for all the vegetables and fruits that would arrive to be distributed around the city. The original area was the warehouse and a loading dock area that could accommodate 60 - 40 ft truck trailers for unloading of goods. ( bottom of pic ) This land of approx. 40 square city blocks was owned by the ( Catholic Church ) Sisters of the Good Shepard. This land was swindled from the nuns by members of Irish gangs, people that had Mafia ties and an ex-Montreal cop. Just to give you an idea of how big this piece of land is, at the top of the pic is a building of a Costco store, the fruit and veggie docks that can accommodate 60 tractor trailers ( at the bottom of the pic ) will soon be demolished to make way for new stores.
