The New Democrats have surged to a double-digit lead in public support, gaining more distance over the other federal parties than they have at any time in the past two years, according to a new Forum Research poll.
About four in 10 Canadians surveyed (39 per cent) said they would cast their ballot for the NDP if an election were held today.
The Conservatives fell from neck-and-neck status with the NDP last week to 28 per cent of voter support Sunday, while the Liberals were steady at 25 per cent.

I seriously hope Harper doesn't win. Worst Prime Minister ever.

......and what exactly makes Harper the worst PM ever? More importantly, what is it that makes Mulcair the best suited to be PM?

No evidence, it's just one's opinion and mine. But there is a thing called change in politics. Canadians want change. The NDP best suited for that change.

Keep on hearing this "change" bull shit from Junior and Mucklair,...means absolutely NOTHING,...what does it mean,...people want a party in power that has different coloured posters,...

Both Junior and Mucklair keep on saying they want to help the middle class by taking away tax free savings and income splitting,...shows how far out of touch those two are with middle class Canadians.

I guess they don't want the teacher vote.

BY PETER O?NEIL, VANCOUVER SUN AUGUST 4, 2015
OTTAWA — The Conservatives head into the October election potentially facing major B.C. losses to the Liberals and especially the New Democratic Party, according to pre-campaign polling data.

And Prime Minister Stephen Harper should look in the mirror if he’s wondering why he could lose one of the western provinces that he has long counted on, according to one of Canada’s top election and public opinion experts.

Change meaning that Canadians don't want Harper as PM. They have grown tired of him after 12 years.

I think Canadians were ready for change last election, but nobody worth changing for ran against Harper.
Different this time around. Last time Ignatieff turned everyone off and it work in Harper's favor.

I would rank Mulroney below Harper. The misshapen Meech Lake Accord and his regressive taxation policy hurt Canada for years to come. The 1991-94 recession hit Ontario much harder than the financial meltdown of the last decade.

Yes we need facts. It's 10 plus years of the Ontario Liberals that is to blame for the loss of jobs - by the way it's close 500,000 jobs lost in Ontario alone. McGuilty and Lose sure made a slug like Eves look good. Oh, and by the way the Ontario provincial deficit is 5 to 10X the Federal one now.

As for fraud the Senate and the Guelph election pale in comparison the the gas plants.

Let's just see where we are after the summer is over. I have a feeling that the ads are going to knock some points off those leads.

The first debate is this Thursday. That will cause a bit of a push in one direction.

And of course let's see what happens internationally. They just announced the death of the Taliban leader which looks like it will cause an internal war for power. With more defecting to ISIL. And if Greece spirals down people will pay attention.

Lots of time and factors beyond the control of the parties will shape the concerns of the voters.

Really now?
The gas plant costs were as much of a scandal as the Ford Scarborough subway.
A waste of resources, not fraud.

Not like electoral fraud.
And blaming the national economy on Ontario's government is the stupidest thing I've heard today, though it is early.

With the subway we get....a subway.

What exactly did we get from the gas plant cancellation?

It was an election fraud of the highest order. They moved the plants to save Liberal seats.

I'll agree with all points except the economic ones. I think Harper has done a great job economically. The debt, deficits and loss of jobs were all brought on by the global recession. Not his fault. I think he rode it out quite well. Also, debt as a percentage of GDP was much worse back in the 90's.

As for the rest of his record, less rosy. I think it's time to boot him out, but have yet to see a candidate I really want in his place.
