I've rarely asked clients what they do for a living unless they mention work or it comes up in some way. The answer is often "I'm in business" or "I'm in computers"
But I've been surprised how many guys have told me exactly what their job was when I first met them.

Apparently a degree and job experience is a requirement but after doing this job for 10 years i figured out in my first week an 18 year old out of hs could probably figure it out.I am employed bu a large corporation who gives me money in exchange for work requiring a specific, relatively uncommon skill set.
