I do not like to defend Ceiling Cat but he did say colder months, not colder climates.
You could die in January in Florida. The temperature might be 70F but it is still considered a colder month than July.
OK, but the original question compared death rates in "cold weather" compared with "hot weather". I interpreted that to mean deaths caused by the colder or hotter weather though conceivably that might not be the case. In any case, I didn't want to start a great debate on this, I just wanted to register my question.
