The leaders of the big beer companies meet for a drink. The president of Budweiser orders a Bud, Miller's president orders a Miller and the president of Coors orders a Coors. When it is Guinness' turn to order he gets a soda.

'Why didn't you order a Guinness?' everyone asks.

'Nah,' Guinness replies, 'If you guys aren't having a beer neither will I.'

I lie Guinness but not more than one. Thanks to InBev's wise decision to move out of Toronto I can't get a Boddington's anywhere anymore. It's the best of the English ales. Matches well with whatever food you're having.

Coors is Italian for colon. It fits.

I love Guinness but the company is starting to piss off a lot of bar owners. (Charging a lot, terrible customer service, "We'll come by when it's convenient for us" etc. type attitude. I know of two bar owners who told Guinness to f*** off and stopped serving Guinness on tap, switching to other stouts.

I have had a passion for Guiness since the early 70's when I spent a year in and around Ireland, consuming vast quantities.
Miss C's comment explains the recent price hikes in Toronto which seem unconcionable... A pint of Guiness at my local on Avenue Road is now around $9; compare that to Steamwhistle which (while admittedly undrinkable) is about $5. you'd have to be nuts to continue drinking Guiness. Apparently I am nuts.

I read so much about Steam Whistle and recently I bought a can for the first time. Really disappointed as I like stronger stuff. I only drink Guinness from the tap. My current substitute is St Ambroise Oatmeal stout.

Steam whistle is only good in the bottles. The cans and draught suck.

I like Boddingtons as well and it is still available in a few pubs.

Guinness is great and yeah it was better in Ireland. But the key here is make sure you get it from a pub that serves a lot of it. Not only will the bartenders be better at pouring it but it doesn't seem to espond well to sitting in the pipes for periods of time. Best to drink it fresh so to speak.

Not to nitpick but the president of Miller and Coors would be the same person as the company is called MillerCoors.

You have to get Steam Whistle in bottles. In cans it taste very bad. Not sure why but get Steam Whistle in bottles and you won't be disappointed. Also try Creemore. Awesome local beer.

I like Budwiser just not the American one. I like the original that is sold in North America under the Czechvar name. I'm too delicate for Guinness-it gives me gas.

Thanks herbness & SexyFTO for the tip ( #10 & 12). I tend to prefer bottles over cans which I know sucks for lots of beers. But I was unsure whether I could just buy 1 bottle from a six pack whereas the cans are standalone.

That's cause lawyers understand fee for service and billing by the hour. (Undoubtedly an old Terb joke.)
They have perfected screwing you fast. They bill by 10 minutes.
