We all know insurance is insanely overpriced
If you think so, get a bunch of investors and start up an insurance company. That's how State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Farmers in the USA, Direct Line in the UK, Farmers & Co-opertors here got started.

Minimum buy in is $10 Million.

BTW, RBC & TD have each lost over $1 Billion in building their operations from scratch and State Farm is exiting Canada due to the billions they've lost this century.

Just read this report on auto insurance company profits:
Who's lying?

Hired by trial lawyers, so what do you expect, shoddy methodology is what you get

ROE or ROI are much below the banks or other similar finanical instiutions

Premiums have slowly and steadily declined since 2012, but this is due to changes in the product that have lessened the lawyers income and redcued fraud.

Try something harder

I have given evidence in these trials and seen judges knock the judgement to $1000 in one case & $1500 in 2 others and twice at $5000.

Judges have a tremendous ability to tell anyone else to piss off. Ask Harper and his minimum mandatory sentences and how that's working out

You've seen "Judges" presiding over these cases?

Really? They are usually Justice's of the Peace and have far less power than a Judge.

Minimum fines and minimum sentences (that affect ones liberty) are completely different circumstances.

I did a quick search and did not find any reported cases under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act of Ontario in which the fine was lowered.

In any case, the $6,200 fine will be the least of his problems if a conviction is registered.

Intact knows how to keep their profits intact (inside joke and I had to lament, sorry if I'm off topic).

But I suppose you're right. Insurance is a tricky business.

As will you "get what you got coming" if/when your wife finds out one day that "you made the conscious decision" to be banging prostitutes for at least the last ten years. "Despite your personal circumstances" of being married etc etc

Another sanctimonious hypocrite...
The logical is this though - truth coming from a "hypocrite" does not make his statement any less truthful. You're attacking the person, not his idea.

That is true.

However, I am rendering judgement on his moral stance.

You actually can't
Total tangent but I did attempt to start an insurance company at one point

Problem is the rates are set by who backs you so cost is still stupidly high, even if you work for free or sell friends insurance at cost

funny how all the hypocrites have gone quiet.

Maybe maybe they might have rethought their position. I respect people who are strong enough to change their mind if another argument is compelling and reasonable.

I do find it pretty ridiculous that so many people ignored the original post in which the guy did indeed admit that he made a bad decision but simply wanted to get some advice on how to move forward the best way possible.

Them all getting in line to bitch slap him one after the other, and some going back for seconds reminded me of the "Get a hold of yourself" scene in the movie Airplane

That is just not true. Many insurers overlook a single minor ticket. If he gets this reduced to a minor infraction and his record is otherwise spotless it will have very little impact.

If he is sitting on a raft of speeding tickets and now this, well sure it will impact him: the system works...

You did read that he was speeding 20km/h also?

That's because we're all satisfied that the OP will get what he deserves for driving without fucking insurance AND 20km/hr over the fucking speed limit.

lol!!!
I'm sure that's exactly the reason....

or....

perhaps you realized your a moron and what he did is less morally ethical than what you do every time you see an SP, not to mention it's has no effect on anyone other than him??

True, but only if you ignore the fact that every single insured driver is paying extra in their premiums to cover the cost of those who recklessly drive without insurance; we're paying because they're cheating. You also have to ignore the fact that the uninsured bozo—who might be driving well over the limit on a dark road, and incapable of seeing even a cop car in time to avoid a ticket—may crash with an innocent motorist who will be stuck with the industry-standard deductible—$300 these days—for damages caused by that uninsured driver.

Blind, dumb luck is all that keeps the consequences of OP's irresponsible decision as light as the Court will decide. Ordinarily intelligent people know that blind dumb luck can easily run the other way, and get insurance to cover that likelihood. For the less adequate thinkers among us we have laws that spell it out.

This is not true at all. Your premiums are based number of different factors, non of which are because other people on the road might not be insured.

And as for your idiotic statement about the $300.00 deductible....If he had insurance, would you not still be paying that deductible? If hits you...he hits you. You would be paying that deductible either way, so what difference does it make if had insurance?

What happens if he kills a cyclist or a pedestrian who has no car insurance?
