I don't see that Lowry said anything terrible in that article. The team just got swept, changes need to be made.. so what.

Having said that, I watch alot of the games. I have seen that the team seems to turn a deaf ear to Casey. I have seen many occasions, in a tight situation, they
are kind of brushing off his coaching.

Casey seems like a really good guy, and I want to cheer really loudly for him. However, I have found that his coaching decisions seem weak, and there is no team identity, or consistency.
There were games when the offense moved the ball extremely well, and then there were many games when it seemed every play was some sort of isolation (without the actual isolation).

JV has seemed to stagnate, and I am tried of seeing games where he has been 5/6 in the first half, with 6 or 7 rebounds, and then he does not see the ball in the second half.
I am tried of seeing them get favorable matchups, then fail to pound that advantage until the other team makes a change.

In the Washington series, it was obvious that Kyle Lowry could not keep up with John Wall (or Bradley Beal for that matter), but there was Lowry getting burned time and again.
The first few times is on Lowry, but then its on the coach.

I love Derozan's potential, but he is not able to lead a team. When his shot is not dropping, he panics. When he drives to the hoop, he flops at the slightest contact, then complains to the ref if there
is no foul called.

This reminds me of the Vince Carter days, we don't have a guy who will step up an make plays or make passes that lead to easy plays.

I think James Johnson going with red hair " look at me " type of act says a lot about him as a person

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I wouldn't mind seeing them trade DeRozan for some kind of front court help.

I don't know why, I've just never really liked DeRozan, I never really thought that he was an all-star last year and I don't like the fact that he carries himself like he is, or his annoying as hell squeaky voiced girlfriend under the basket counting down from 10 on the shot clock every freaking time, but I don't think he's an essential piece. I don't like the way he can sometimes over-dribble and kill momentum, shoot too many long jump shots, dribble off his feet, and the way he always says "hey" any time he goes up for a shot like he's being fouled when he's not, just seems kind of weak.

I think JV is a building block, he only looks bad on defence because his guards keep getting blown by and can't keep their man in front of them and he has to help too much. He needs a better defensive tough power forward next to him that can help him out, like a Taj Gibson type, not that we'll ever get him, but a guy like that.

:frusty: had to take the day to recover from that effort last night! If you look back on this thread from the beginning, I think everyone saw this coming as no surprise but the first few months just covered up faults till they got brutally exposed the last two weeks. Today's sniping at the press conferences shows some of the immaturity this Group has as a whole.

Now we can focus on the other thread about the offseason. Blame on the performances goes from top to bottom. Masai's 2nd act on stage seemed staged and lacked leadership, Dwane needs to also deal with offence, players truly needed to defend and rebound, etc...

So, in hindsight, we will need to find why they tanked so hard after the break, was it coach losing the room, players not taking responsibility, injuries we didn't hear about, why JJ disappeared after the break, and on and on. Right now 9 are returning contracts and AJ, LW, TH, LF, GS are free. Do we extend JV and TR and, if we do, how long and how much? And can we get the "IT" guy!!! I don't envy what Masai will have to decide, but from business perspective, there needs to be major changes in both people and philosophy for this rebuild to stay positive. I don't think there is an untouchable on this roster at all. Anyways, it'll be a great summer and before we know it the 15/16 thread will be in Our face again!:eyebrows:

Overall, I enjoyed this season. It gave a lot of people hope, brought some fans back and gave us more good moments than not for the first time in years. Now let's hope we are not a 1 and done in the competition category! Have a great summer all and let's go Raptors!:thumb:

What I hate about this Raptors team is that they give up too easily and show no effort on the court. They started the year off hot, but in the second half of the season they struggled and it seems like they just gave up. They had no momentum going into the playoffs and with this team I knew they were going to lose in the first round, especially since they faced the Wizards over the Bucks.

After Lowry made the all-star team he regressed so much that he's not even recognizable as an all-star calibre player anymore. John Wall made a fool out of him, he's so much quicker and more athletic. Lowry looks like he's sweating cheeseburgers out there.

And DeRozan, this guy is not an all-star, and not a leader. I agree that his girlfriend has a very annoying voice. Casey needs to go, there's really no argument from anyone about that. I'm sure he'll be fired within the week.

JV got dominated by Gortat, and his growth and development as a player is really in question. Lou Williams just likes to chuck shots, and Vasquez isn't any better.

You don't give up an all-star unless you get an all-star in return. Unless we are getting DeMarcus Cousins in return, I wouldn't give up DeRozan. He is not the perfect player, but he has improved every year. This year, he's been a better playmaker. He's been getting better at the corner 3. He is still 26 and can still add to his game. Did went HAM in March and April to win player-of-the-month while Lowry was out.

What disappointed me this season was the offensive philosophy. Too many iso plays, quick 3's, and not feeding the post (JV especially). Early in the season, it was tolerable, but ever since Lou Williams went off against the Cavs, the team became ISO heavy. I also wanted more playing time for guys like Bebe and Bruno. I would sacrifce a few wins just so JV, Bruno, and Bebe develop.

Also, the defense has really slipped. Amir, Lowry, and Ross were poor this year. Amir was slow on rotations this year, and Ross has been an absolute disappointment. Ross has all the tools, but doesn't have a brain. I'd like to see him dealt to Portland for their pick this year or next year.

5th worse defense in the league ... As a fan I am confused with almost the same roster their defense digressed to thay low of a level ...

How this core quit in the last game should be heavily investigated by the Raptors GM . Lowry wanted a team to lead , well his leadership skills sure showed a team of immature
Professionals .

I disagree with you about the girlfriend. I love her passion. I think Derozan has superstar talent. When he is squared to the basket, his mid range jump shot is the best in the league. There is much I don't like about Derozan, but you would never get much in return for him. I love Lowry, but I think he is the problem. I agree about JV, but only if they make him a focal point, and if they slap him upside his head everytime he passes up that open jumper from the top of the key.

This team is the only team in these playoffs that quit .. Good god if they won they were coming home for next game . Usually teams down 3-0 are usually at home in that game 4 and I could see them quitting them .. Heck Nets and Bucks
Tied up their series .

Is it just me or did Casey sound like Randy Caryle in last half of the season ... Preaching defense but players wanted to win it their way ..

Seriously this city / country put Lowry in the all star game and he did nothing in this series to thank us .. The bottom line is he let his conditioning go during the season and game was dramatically effected .

I was actually wondering for awhile about Lowry's weight. It seemed to me he had gotten bigger since the beginning of the season. As for a being an all-star, it always seemed a bit of a stretch. People talk about Lowry and his ability to take a lot of charges and his tenacity, which was true, but those are not all-star qualities. His shooting is inconsistent. He's short and not very fast. Compare him to John Wall who is lightning quick or Westbrook even. Even DeRozan seems to be just below all-star calibre. I'm not sure Derozan would be the 1st or second option on many teams in the West. He's not first option on many teams in the East.
Bottom line our team is slower, shorter, and weaker than Washington and I wonder if the result might have been the same against Milwaukee. Coaching and offensive/defensive systems might have gotten us a game or two in this series, but we are short on talent.
Funny thing is, just a few months from now, if Washington doesn't win the Conference, and we meet up with Pierce at home in the ACC, just point up at the banner in the ceiling!!!!!

This Raptor team had it's best success when Lowry was at the top of his game .. As his game went down so did the teams .
It was no secret he was the first to leave practice all the time .

Also the fact nobody on the Raptors has a strong reseme and personality to pull Lowry aside means it was up to the coach to play bad cop all the time . If Raps had Pearce he could have told been that guy .

I read somewhere else that the excuse for him being overweight was because of his injury, which caused him unable to train as hard.

I don't know if that's true, but if he's simply reverted back to the "old Lowry (overweight & hard to coach)" before his contract year, the Raptors are in big trouble.

I also agree that the development of Ross and JV had been disappointing.

Watching Brooklyn vs Atlanta. brooklyns got Alan Anderson playing real well....not sure why we let him go??? I thought he always played opposing point guards real hard.....not sure Lowry is any better, and Lowry eats up a lot more salary. Interestingly Brooklyn has Jared Jack too!
