(I know 2-3-4 of them bombed Air India flights in the 1980's but the vast majority are law abiding and hard working.)

Did you know Sikh soldiers in the British Army marched into battle wearing turbans and not helmets in defense of Singapore and Malaysia during WW II?

And they were real bad asses, and important addition against the enemy,...but I don't think there was any insurance involved then.

As a side note, I have ALWAYS had good experiences with Sikhs,...cool dudes.

They also shot up Osgoode Hall and attempted to set up a terror network in Canada. The conspiracy trails were presided over by Justice Charles Dubin. During the trials I was Justice Dubin's personal driver, and we both wore flak jackets. Most of the time we were also escorted by the OPP. And they still have disputes between temples today - I still view them with suspicion.
You must have some great Charlie stories!

He was a charming and humble man and for a brief time I was his Furio. Nothing ever fazed him, he was always calm even in the face of Sikh insanity. The trail was held in Hamilton, he always wanted to be driven home after adjournment. Air India and Indira Gandhi's assassination were still very fresh, when Joe Clark went there he got a boa draped around his neck. Indian authorites had been warning Canada about Seikh terrorists for years, Canadian authorities chose to not pay attention. I expected him to live well into his 90's but he never made it. He caught a nasty bout of pneumonia and died suddenly in 08. I visited his gravesite in Oak Ridges to pay my respects.

I've been looking for the Joe Clark picture, haven't found it yet.

Another blast from the past, I was on the St. Clair Streetcar too many years ago and a former Liberal Prime Minister was a happy drunk at the back of the car. I had to laugh, all I could think was how different we really were from the Americans.

Nowadays, well, times are changing.

On on any given day, you can count on running into at least two red-faced former premiers in the PATH post lunch hour...

i once saw Jean Chretien at Epic. I wasn't sure as he was sitting alone at the table next to me. I expected an entourage. Nope, said the waiter. Just one burly security guy sitting at another table a few yards away.
