Mcdavids career is fucking ruined, he looked disgusted and so should he have been. This is outrageous!!:frusty::mad:

He has to do what lindros did!!!!
And he wouldn't be ruined if Toronto got him? The Leafs are in a bigger mess than the Oilers right now, no coach or GM, no scouting staff and a bunch of players that obviously didn't give a shit once Carlyle was fired. But look on the bright side, after three years the Leafs can sign McDavid to an offer sheet and try to steal him from Edmonton.

Not quite wazup, Edmonton's defense is a blood pit and Taylor Hall is already showing signs of wear and tear because of it. The Leafs have Morgan Rielly, drafted in the same year as Nugent-Hopkins, so the Leafs are ahead in development. Like Hall, McDavid is going to get hit a lot with the Oilers. He'll be spending more time in his own zone than he's every done before. I would trade the No.4 pick to Nashville for Seth Jones, but that's never going to happen.

And why would Nashville take that trade?
That's what I just said George, how can you live with yourself.

The Preds must have been pinching themselves when they got to draft him. He has so many intangibles, will win the Norris Trophy more than once and, before the end of this decade, the Stanley Cup will be on display at The Grand Ol Opry.

I would change the lottery so that you can't have a repeat winner. If Edmonton drafts an 18 year old, they must have the youngest team in the league.

Every team knew the odds for the lotto. Appears to be sour grapes here. Glad that McDavid didn't go to that scab lets tank on purpose Sabres. If anything the NHL should change the lottery rules for what the Sabres were trying to do. Hahahaha Buffalo!

I like Lindros but what Lindros did was classless. I think McDavid has more class than that. .

Her place
It really says something about an organization when they had 3.. # 1 picks overall in the last 5 years and they wind up in the lottery...AGAIN!
Now its 4 ..#1 in the last 6...?
I thought being bad was supposed to get you good players so you can get better????..guess not..LOL
Malkin, Crosby, fleury and it still took years. When you're shit, you're shit, and fixing it can take a long time.

There would be much less tanking if they just gave the pick to the worst team. Only a couple of teams would be in the race for the bottom.

The way it is now, many teams are motivated to tank to increase their odds at a first overall.

Malkin..2004( actually #2 overall)
Crosby..2005
Staal..2006
won the cup in 2009...
thats not years...thats called good coaching and management
all young superstars in the making

whats Edmontons excuse?
They've had or will have 4....#1 overalls in 6 years...THAT is fucking pathetic...and as I said in my other post...ITS upper management that is the blame for the shit show in Edmonton.
The Players have not been taught to play as a team...that simple..

lol.. a 2013 4th overall pick with 2 years of NHL experience for a 4th overall pick this year with no guarantee of getting the player that you want. Maybe if the Leafs add the 2015 2nd round pick and the 2016 first and second round pick on top of the 2015 first round pick, Nashville may consider it.

This came back to haunt Lindros, had he stayed in Quebec which moved Colorado with players like Sakic and Sundin (before the trade to the Leafs) he would have won a cup.

Next year they will have 3 draws. Draw 1 for the first pick, Draw 2 for the second pick and draw 3 for the third pick. I think the NHL should have 5 draws for the top 5 picks. If you tank on purpose to finish last you could end up picking 6th. So no NHL teams can tank on purpose.

Pittsburgh 1 cup since Crosby has been drafted (almost 10 years), would have thought the Pens should have won more cups but it's better than Edmonton.

I say the Leafs can offer McDavid a massive contract that Edmonton can't match once he comes a RFA (after his 3 years entry level contract) but the price could be as high as five 1st round picks going to Edmonton. Something Shanahan knows well about.

Edmonton wouldn't have any problem matching anything Toronto offers as they probably would have a lot more cap space than Toronto.

In 3 years time, they may run out cap space fast as they may have to resign RNH, Hall and Eberle. Plus I assume they will get some free agent starting goalie in the off season and a stud defenceman and a veteran forward to mentor McDavid. They will eventually have to trade some their RFAs to make cap space for McDavid.

Not necessarily, Quebec got in that trade:

Steve Duchesne
Peter Forsberg
Ron Hextall
Kerry Huffman
Mike Ricci
$15M cash
1993 1st round pick (#10-Jocelyn Thibault)
future considerations (Chris Simon 1994 1st round pick (#10-Nolan Baumgartner))

Jocelyn Thibault was part of the Patrick Roy trade. Sundin was traded to Toronto before the move to Colorado. Had the Lindros trade never happened, Quebec/Colorado would have not gotten those players or that money hence there is no telling what would have happened.

On the other hand, we're still only talking minor league players who may or may not develop, may get hurt or simply not live up to their hype. And then we had Datsyuk (171), Gilmour (134), Zetterberg (210), Brett Hull (117), Theo Fleury (166). The best luck in the draft cannot overcome weak scouting and bad GM-like Edmonton... or the Leafs.
