Look kids, all the grandpas have gotten together to talk about music in the olden days.
Isn't it cute when the kids try to join the adult conversation. Go back to your Justin Bieber hits and let the music fans talk among themselves...

Did you take time out from yelling at the kids to get off your lawn to write this? Hey I think Q107 is playing Stairway To Heaven again, better hurry!!!!

The trouble with reminiscing and saying "ohhh_________was so much better back then, everything sucks now" is you're having selective memory and not remembering all the crap that was made too.

Sure, there was crap music back in the 60's, 70's, 80's up until Cobain blew his head off (the day the music really did die). There was disco for example, and lots of pop music, but the difference is that now, it's pretty much all crap. Back then, there was some crap, now there is nothing but crap.

Maybe I'm getting older (we all are) but I keep waiting for the next Dylan, or Lennon, or Waters or Page or Bono and all I get is crap.

The classical rock musicians were all children of WW2 and the cold war. It was a different time, and a different era and it shaped people differently. Musicians rebelled against the system. Today's musicians were brought up in the era of ergonomically designed baby strollers and "everyone is a winner". They just don't have the inspiration to draw on.

When I grew up in the late 70's and into the 80's we had the best of all music. The 60's was not that long past, the 70's music was our music, the new wave era hit when we were in high school and university and grunge was huge when we just got our first jobs. We had music we could call our own. It belonged to my generation.

Today's kids, they've got bieber and Kenye and pop shit. I see some teenagers wearing Led Zeppelin and Beatles T-shirts. I think that it's sad that they don't have their music that defined their youth, but I'm impressed that even they know what is still head and shoulders above the rest.

^^ Amen.

There have been a few good artists in the last few years...like Adele or Amy Winehouse. But still nothing like the classics. :( I grew up during the Grunge era but always still really liked the older stuff as well.

Thank you for proving my point.
