Woodbine casino debate likely back on the agenda

Bet on another casino debate starting next week.

John Tory’s executive committee is being asked to have staff look at expanding gaming at Woodbine Racetrack.

Council dealt a big “no” to expanding gaming at the Rexdale Blvd. racetrack during last term’s casino debate when the push for a downtown casino went bust.

Now Deputy Mayor Vince Crisanti is asking the executive committee and city council to restart the debate specifically around Woodbine.

John Tory and his "bed-follow" Kathleen Wynne need cash and they need them fast.

Ahh yes... the old downtown casino debate... just one more thing that Fatty turned into a toxic waste field that no one wanted to touch.
One more thing that competent consensus-builder Mayor Tory needs to clean up and fix.

It was a done deal put together by the hard-working Rob Ford mayoral administration under the old Paul Godfrey/Dalton McGuinty revenue-sharing formula.

Kathleen Wynne changed the formula at the last minute closing stage and fired Paul Godfrey.

Rob Ford fought for additional, I believe if my memory serves me correctly, $50m annually "Hosting Fee" the city was entitled to under the old formula. Kathleen Wynne claimed she needed the money more and rejected Toronto's package based on the "old" formula.

Rob Ford was absolutely correct to walk away from the new deal dictated by Kathleen Wynne.

The deal failed.

One of the major reason Kathleen Wynne hates Rob Ford because Rob Ford dared to stand up on her on behalf of the citizens of Toronto.

Ahh, so Fatty soured a relationship between the city and the province, but it is the province's fault.
Gotcha... head back into your mommy's basement.

The city of Toronto in a nutshell. Study, discuss and debate...and then, do nothing. The casino at Woodbine racetrack is already there. Just roll in the bloody tables and be done with it. Same with the booze. I remember Peterson making these same promises back when I was in high school. What is wrong with the people we elect? Are we electing halfwits?

Woodbine Casino is a no brainer.

Besides if a major casino being built somewhere else the Woodbine Racetrack may not survive financially and thousands of jobs in Toronto will be lost.

I always supported a casino up by Woodbine.. This was a major fuck up on the part of Ford who lost the entire debate by insisting on it being down by the waterfront.. If the man (and his brother) had listened to their constituents, we'd likely already be on our way to building a casino resort complex up there..

The game breaker was the hosting fee being reduced by Kathleen Wynne's new revenue-sharing formula.
