D) It took 75% of the filming time to do the 2 minute shower scene. The film was done in 30 days but the shower scene took 7 days. It was 1960 a nude woman in the flesh was a rare sight to see.

correct...the Withers version was actually released in 1972..any takers for the other 8 songs?
Bananarama hit #1 with Venus which was a remake but I do not know if it went to number one when The Shocking Blue released it in the early 70s.
Percy Sledge hit #1 with When A Man Loves A Woman. It was remade by Michael Bolton in the 80s and I think it was top 5. Did it hit #1?
I'll Be There by The Jackson 5 hit #1 and later on Mariah Carey did it too.

There's a start. No idea about the others. I've been thinking about this all night at work picking brains of my co-workers who deserve zero credit for helping me.
One girl said that Lady Marmalade, recorded by Christina Aguilera and others for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack was a remake of a number one hit but I don't think that the newer version hit number one.

I was just going to post that one.

Racking my brain trying to think of others - plenty of covers out there but ones where the original and the cover both went to #1 are hard to think of....

Fleetwood Mac and the Dixie Chicks - Landslide?
