here and there
If you count success as making it to but losing in the playoffs then the Habs have had way more success than the Leafs. If you judge the success of a team solely based on winning the Cup, then Montreal has sucked just as much as the Leafs in the last 21 years.

Lets not forget that the Leafs probably had the best team in 92/93 but if it were not for the infamous non-call... Toronto just may have gone on to win the Cup that year. Obviously we'll never know but who wouldn't have loved to see Toronto vs. Montreal in the final.

LOL you Leafs fans really need to get over it...that was 22 years ago...

Out of all the dumb statements on Terb - and there are a lot of them - this is easily top 5. The point, is that the Leafs aren't playing as well as the Habs. Historically, no team in the league has played as well as the Habs.
I'm a die hard Leafs fan, but they suck. Management keeps on making money and doesn't give a shit.

Thanks to the freakin' idiot decision makers at Rogers, I'm starting to think that some of you Leaf fans may be right about TO being the centre of the hockey world.
Again tonight, the Habs are playing and none of the Rogers monopoly networks are showing the game. But we have the Lightning and Bruins on a few channels.
I pay a premium to have RDS specifically for this reason and since Rogers took over the bulk of the broadcasts, the Habs's games on RDS are blacked out here.

I wonder how they'll manage the playoffs if Montreal goes a few rounds.

I'm a Habs fan ever since I saw Cournoyer and Beliveau. I love to watch the Leafs lose and listen to the constant Leaf talk around town... it is an endless tragic soap opera. I will be leading the celebration signifying 50 years of futility coming up in only 2 years! Watch for it and order your T-shirt NOW!

Even as a die-hard Leafs fan I must dispute this ...That call came in game 6, (yes, the Leafs were robbed) but they got spanked by Gretzky in game 7. Montreal then beat LA in 5 games with Patrick Roy putting on a historic overtime playoff run of 11 wins. He was the best goalie in the world at the time, and I have my doubts the Leafs would have won that series ...but I would have given anything to see that.
It was de-moralizing to the Leafs thereafter, when The Great One became The Untouchable One.

Lost my interest in the NHL after the 04/05 lockout. My team is Team Canada. It doesn't matter if it's Men's, Women's or Junior's. If they have the red maple leaf on the jersey, I'm watching.

Geeeze, when you put it like that... Still not cheering for the Habs though. lol
Leafs fall flat against many other Canadian teams
Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver all are alot better

Winnipeg not so much (lol)
Ottawa is better regular season but just as bad come playoff time

Loyalty to the home team, or are you one of those guys who follow whoever is leading in the standings?
Home team only if you live in Toronto proper and not a burb like Etobicoke or Scarborough
Otherwise you are just cheering for a closer team

Edit - And "loyalty"???
People watch sporting events to see great players
If you are not in the ACC does it really matter what colour jersey they are wearing? On TV you are not "supporting" the Leafs
Plus the obvious fact the team leading the standings tends to be the best team to watch as they usually have the best talent

etobicoke, scarborough, York, east York and north York are all part of Toronto since they were amalgamated.

All those Red Sox fans who supported their team all those decades without a championship. I get that. Like many hockey fans who live in Toronto, the Leafs are part of us like shitty traffic, and crappy transit. Toronto is our home, the Leafs our team.

Metropolitan Toronto included the burbs.

You've never heard of loyal fans? Please!

So, are there any other hockey fans on Terb or is this thread quiet because most of you are Leafs fans and they are, yet again, having another déjà vu? ;)
Gabriella, I just renewed my boss' Leaf subscription today. No price increase if you do so before March 24th (otherwise, 5%). Two Platinums including club fees - $25K! Most of the fans are corporate customers, not die hard hockey fans.

BTW, I don't think many Leaf fans will boo at you in that nice, form-fitting Montreal tee shirt that we see in your sig pic.
