Leonard Nimoy never bought into The Great Shat's rigorous lifestyle. Even though he played a dour Vulcan, in life he lived a much easier lifestyle and didn't really tend to his health. He made it to 83 years, more power to him. Incidentally both got their start in TV with The Twilight Zone. Nimoy is the better actor but The Great Shat has Judgement at Nuremburg and The Brothers Karamazov in his body of work.
I loved Leonard Nimoy.

Shatner's Twilight Zone episode when he sees a gremlin on the wing of a passenger jet in flight is a classic but I can't remember Nimoy's episode.
BTW: I agree with McCoy, Spock looked much better with a beard.
You will really feel old when Sulu ( April 20, 1937 ) (age 77) and Chekov September 14, 1936 (age 78) kicks the bucket. Kirk ( William Shatner ) is 83. Uhura ( Nichelle Nichols ) is 82. Nurse Chapel ( Majel Barrett ) died in December 18, 2008 (aged 76)

I understand that Ckekov was brought in as a Davie Jones (Monkees) looking actor to attract the younger females.
