I am so excited about the beginning of baseball season, all y'all have no idea. I think this year we will have a stunning team.

I'm not too thrilled about the Commissioner trying to throw off the shift though, because that's Defense 101. Similarly, the season will be shortened? What? I had no idea.

Anyway, still thrilled about the opener. OMG, I might even live-tweet it.

xoxo,

Olivia

Spring training is about to start so baseball fans are getting ready.

As an unapologetic Yankee fan, I am looking forward to our "rebuilding" year...MLB opening day is April 5th.

Gotta love the Jays home opener, the place is full, people getting hammered and some acting like English soccer fans circa 1985 and the next day attendance plummets and it is back to business caring about the Leafs only.

I thought this was a thread about the Jays Opening game and the excitement of a new season.

One thing I'll say about what the Leafs and Jays have in common though: neither of them play hockey.

Nice to see The Adorable One back in pinstripes and three days early no less. The Yanks are going to need him to put glutes in the seats. Did his testimony get the owner of Genesys a jail sentence of four years? That's harsh!

As for the Jays, there are a number of questions. And the problem of the Argos as yet to be settled. The Jays need natural turf to make them attractive to top free agent - Melky would have never left.

Did I read that correctly?

For a certain donation you had an extra ticket to enjoy the game with you, love to be taken for an elegant dinner after the game and go to your place to eh, reminisce? :)

Natural turf would be nice, but the Jays offered Melky a great deal of money over 4 years and he turned it down because he wants to play every day. Hate to say this, because I really liked it when Melky was here, but at his age, that will never happen. I think Melky turned down a great deal, and the turf be damned.

Hi,

Sadly no. The Jays home opener sold out in two hours. Hell, I was going to make it a raffle if I could afford it! You can always take me to a ballgame though, and treat me. Always much appreciated.

Melky is 30 years old. He turns 31 in August. He isn't old' it just seems like he has been aroumd forever! Don't know why the Jays didn't resign him. What he got from the Sox, the Jays should have easily been able to match.

Unfortunately, the Jays have a history of turning down veteran talent that is too expensive (I know, I know...but I can't answer for the Jays' front office), and pouring the extra money back into young prospects. It may be that Melky going to the Sox will be the dealbreaker that will lose the Jays a playoff spot. Don't get me wrong, I'm very optimistic, but you have to wonder.
