^ I disagree. Part of McCowwn's appeal is that he can say what he wants because of his seniority. He has been very critical of Rogers in how Beeston was treated for instance.

Sid regularly rips the Jays and the Leafs. Jeff Blair is often critical of both teams.

I don't see any of the hosts really sugar coating Rogers-owned teams.

Their opinions usually line up with the opinions I read from the non-Rogers owned media in the city and beyond.

I can't stand TSN radio so can't comment on them.

Don't know if Bob McCown would be unemployed if he snarled. And he has. He is the face of the franchise when it comes to the Fan590. I honestly hate the guy - he is arrogant, he cuts callers off when he knows he is about to lose a debate - but interestingly enough will keep callers on longer if he knows he is gonna win the debate. And Bob isn't nearly as knowledgeable on sports as he thinks he is. Guys like Stephen Brunt are far more knowledgeable. But you know what? Despite my hate on for Mccown I STILL listen to his show. A LOT. He may not be as knowledgeable on sports as he thinks, he may be arrogant , BUT he is entertaining. The guy makes me laugh almost every time I listen to his show.

I don't listen to Sports radio as much as I used to.
Too many of the people who host shows are retarded and/or have attention deficit disorder and it's just inhumane Chinese water torture to be forced to listen to them.
The only 2 people I can listen to at the fan now are Bob McCown and Jeff Blair.

The McCown show needs a new co host though because this Ken Read guy is just as dull as dishwater.
The McCown show was at it's best when Jim Shaky Hunt was with him and also when Jim Kelley of the Buffalo News was co host.
Shaky Hunt was so funny and Jim Kelley had this gift for saying just exactly the right thing every time.

Bob McCown is the only day oner still at the Fan.
Barb Digulio left a couple of years ago and Norm Rumack is basically gone although he sometimes does remote reporting from a Home Depot store or a Shoeless Joe's bar or something.
McCown's wife, I heard, used to be married to some nerdy, behind the scenes, tech geek who worked over at the Fan and McCown met her one day and stole her away from the guy.
But, he is after all Bob McCown, the crown prince of the Fan590; so, it was an upgrade for her.

lol I still dig Depeche Mode. Can't be sexy to my fan590 boys' voices..... I dunno if she's a sweet piece of ass based on her voice but I admit I've looked at college programs for radio sports broadcasting. I really enjoy sports-talk radio more than what is normal and would be pretty happy working in that field.

Tell me about it, I haven't seen her, but tried to book a session as soon as I read that, LOL!

Unfortunatley I watch the show more than listen to it on radio...so ....McCowan get rid of the sunglasses and stop looking like you have acid reflux all the time , constatnly looks like he's burping...watch the show and you will see what i mean

Starz I think you have answered your own question.
McCown is more entertaining by far then some of the people they let go. They have to get the listener numbers and if guys like McCown get the listeners that is what sponsors want.
I could not stand Hogan, but he did know football.

Mike Hogan should not be mentioned in the same sentence. If Hoggie hosted Prime Time sports it would get a tenth of the ratings. Whatever Bob lacks in sports IQ he makes up for
in at least being entertaining. Hoggie is just awful to listen to IMO. I compare him to being a long relieve pitcher on a losing team. He's an innings eater to give your starters a rest. You're not
going to win with him but at least he'll give everyone else a break. To back that up, whenever Dave Naylor or someone else is on holidays who do they throw in to host, good old reliable Mike
Hogan.

Bob sucks. He doesn't have much knowledge in the world of sports. Especially when it comes to soccer!! The most popular sport in the world. Love it or hate it. There are millions watching it daily.
Bob has a place here even if he annoying as hell. I'm just used to him and if he was gone it would be weird.

I listen occasionally when I'm up late enough. Sounds like Ed the Sock but I don't mind him. Amy Lawrence is the one I avoid.

I remember listening to Mike Hogan way back when McCown was either on the morning show or when he was fired from the morning show. Mike really seemed to be trying to emulate Bob's act. He failed miserably. He calls a good football game but sucks as a host.
