not surprise at all with Richards clearing waivers. Leafs got to build with younger players and not waste time and money on overpaid rejects from other teams. Players to think of trading include Lupul, Clarkson, Booth (he is really useless), etc.

I have to laugh at leaf fans.

The Leafs need young players, but to they have scouts good enough to find them? I think they need these scouts first. 45 yrs of substandard play suggest that there is no one in MLSE who knows what a good prospect looks like. and no coaches able to train them up as Kadri would prove.

Get the scouts, coaches and trainers first. Then start to look for players.

This decade will be a write off for the leafs as the long-terms deals of Kessel & Phaneuf have removed any GMs ability to manage the cap, and these two are untradeable unless MLSE decides to continue to pay part of their salaries. And I can't see corporate ownership signing off.

Why do you think Leiweke jumped. He knew it was hopeless.

I was looking at the 2015 all-stars and it appears that none of them were drafted by the Leafs. Yes, I know Kessel plays for the Leafs but he was originally drafted by Boston. The Leafs have a policy of never drafting all-stars.

Leafs lose again. But they get a point, offence still invisible. Should have been able to beat a Devils team with a worse offence than Toronto has and one of the worst home records in the NHL.

Worst possible scenario tonight.

Leafs hold edge in play, give up late goal, go to OT and lose. Still gain a point. They either need to win a whack of games in a row (a minor miracle) or continue to suck and get no points to move up in the draft. Picking up points here and there when they are unlikely to make the playoffs is the worst thing they can do.

Why ruin his career as well. Fix the organization first, then get the players. BTW - Didn't Domi's kid out-score him in the world juniors?
I really like the young domi- he put on a great show of his talents at the world juniors.

He would be very popular in toronto

Gotta love the Coyotes first goal, short handed shot from 120 feet away. Leafs fall back into bad habits as Phoenix has 45 shots on goal.

I do not remember situation like this ever for the Leafs.

Under Carlyle, we can tell it was not a complete team, but when he was fired, the team was still in a playoff position.

Now the Leafs management wants more defense. So now, under the new coach, just one win in ten games something like that, and hardly any goals, when this team lead the league in scoring.

Okay I admit it, I did not watch these back to back games, only half way through the 3rd period yesterday saw the JVR goal, and watched the highlight of tonight's game. Two goals for the Leafs, both off the rush. Ha Ha, and they fired Carlyle.

The players do not want to get traded, so they play the way management wants them to play.

Looking at the stats, kind of surprising. Seems like everyone is having a good year so far, but the team looks awful now. What a waste of a season.

Oddly, I still believe in this team, that it could do better, but certain changes have to be made.

Hire a real coach who has a track record of success. Right now, seems to me the current coach already lost his team.

Get rid of your 1st line center and your 4th line center. Bozak had his chance, he can be traded for something like a draft choice. Carlyle was right about dressing enforcers. Trever Smith 3 points in 40 games. Imagine that, Kardri and Holland probably were the team two best centers. Santorelli plays center, so does Kamorov.

Kadri, Holland, Santorelli, Kamorov down the middle probably better than what they got now.

They have to trade Phaneuf, 3rd round draft choice if they can, just a salary dump. Remember Gary Nyland, Bab McGill, and Fred Boimstruck? Well, how about Jake Gardiner, Morgan Riley, and Stuart Percy. There's no comparison. These guys have to be paid, and Phaneuf I kind of like as a player, but it is time to go. He's been in the league for about 10 years already, time to give someone else a chance.

Got to wonder who is making these management decisions, because they are bizarre.

More on that some other day.

Booooooooooo!

^^^^^^^^^^^+1 what a dumb move when management-less fired Carlyle. Winless and zero offence now.

The games are less entertaining to watch. However, the soap opera that is the Leafs and MLSE is beginning to get more interesting. I think they are building to a big season finale. Something like "Who Shot Brendan Shanahan?"

Let's not put the heat on Shanahan, his intervention was tactical.

In order to compete he needs to build up his talent pool. The scouting staff has been replenished, Peddie's cuts have been reversed. He needs a solid core of 1st round picks to make the team competitive. I don't believe that William Nylander was a mistake, but the Leafs drafting record during the Peddie regime is abysmal. Give Shany time.

I dont blame Shannahan

Its the idiots before him that made the mistakes

Nonnis has to go for Signing phaneuf for 7 years

MLSE has not made any playoff revenue 9 out of the last 10 years that is the only positive out of this

They have lost over 100 million in playoff revenue
