I wish I was in the 4 th one .... Wow !
I know right? I want to see that place in person, since my father's family lived not too far from there.
I also liked the 3rd one below it, the Saint-Geneviève Library in Paris.

However, 2 things came to mind when I saw the one you mentioned in Austria.

1) Imagine the stories if the walls could talk, it's over a thousand years old.
2) I wonder if Arnold Schwarzenegger ever read a book from there? lol

I spent many hours studying/researching in the MIT Barker library. Beautiful place inside, outside and surroundings.

I think the Ottawa Parliament library is a national treasure. If you have not seen it, it is a breath taking must see.

Unfortunately we live in a place where Conservatives don't think it's worth anything to have nice libraries, if any at all.

Your comment is ignorant - Perhaps you should spend some more time in your local library and educate yourself.

Refer to post # 4 or even better, go visit it in person.

You really are turgid little man bringing your bile into a thread like this. I could start a thread about Little Red Riding Hood and you would find a way to crap on it with petty agendas.

Surprised that the Library of Congress in DC was hardly mentioned or the U of T Library.

I don't think there are many Toronto libraries that will come close to the architectural masterpieces the OP posted originally. I know that Toronto's Reference Library recently underwent a renovation, but it still has dull 1970's era look. I partially agree with yung_dood in that the Ford brothers felt that there were too many libraries around. It's very sad when certain people feel that libraries are a waste of land and money when they are still important and relevant today.

I highly doubt that every library in the cities mentioned above are as elaborate as their main one. I would imagine most of them are as plain and simple as the multitude of libraries we have throughout the province.

My point to yung_dood was that he chose to blame the Conservatives for a lack of "elaborate architecture" per a library in Canada, when in fact we have more than one.

As per the Ford Brothers, fortunately they are history and any undue stress or negativity they caused to the Toronto library association should be amended under the new regime.

Toronto has Osgoode Hall, which is probably more than what most cities have if one feels the need to be in awe of some masterful architecture.
